Completely freaking out here. About ten minutes ago, I was just about to shut down my computer when something in the back of my mind practically screamed "Mazzy Star!" for no reason. I have no idea why. Their last record came out '96, so for all the years I've been a fan ('04), searching for news about a new record was just a waste of energy. I lost all hope years ago.
But today, out of nowhere, something implores me to look up what's going on with Mazzy Star? After 15 years of complete silence? It was so random. And it just so happens that they released new material just a couple of weeks ago. It's maybe not proof of a God, but it certainly seems like some sort of devine intervention. Maybe angels.
Anyway... nevermind. I'm so bloody amped up about this that I'm just spamming every forum I'm registered with. I've not been this excited about new music since I was bloody 12! I can't believe this.
If you want to, you can listen to one of their new songs, "Lay Myself Down," at Pitchfork. It fits right alongside the likes of She's My Baby and I've Been Let Down. They've not missed a beat.
