I don't like the song. The chorus is like "unfinished" or hasn't got that catchy hook. I was expecting some other metaphors since the name of the song was animal heart (like wild feelings and going against the grain, unconsciousness, etc), but sounds like it doesn't have that "animal strenght" I was expecting to... Sorry Nina. I love all your music anyway and I'll absolutely buy your album!

Well , yeah you´re right Fede about feelings, starting with the song name, sounds like a harder song and is more soft in a way... , and you´re right about the unfinished chorus... I thought the same, even the drums have a weird sound :S , but I think is not a bad song... just good , the important here is to listen her again... Lets hope the full album will be great!
btw ... at the end of the video there´s a little mikstake when Nina try to waer the coat ... :s (video of one take...)

What's pretty interesting here is that I already read some comment between friends saying: "Oh, I didn't know her, but the song is so good".

Just a little more thing to say: She is Nina Persson, ok?

Best!

The chorus saying "come, be my man" doesn't sound like anything new. My America sounds "more animal" to me.
Even in the video she has a crazy look or a stiff face. She is a beautiful person and we all know she can look more natural and pretty than that.
I don't understand the dancing in her back and why she is lift by her dancers by the end of the video... That looks absolutely weird.

In a way... My America reminds me so much the chorus of Animal Heart ... funny to hear that of you too Fede... I feel the same and I make a comparation... LOL
About dancers... I dont like too, and at the end is very notorious the mistake .. and I see some kind of angry in the Nina´s face...

Um, don't be to hard on Nina.
The song does grow on you, close your eyes and listen!
A one-take video is very hard to get right so I'm sure
It took all her concentration that day.
I wonder if they took a break when they put up the art canvas and moved to the
grocery store...?
At the end she gives a little come-hither look before she gets up and goes to the door.
So I wonder if it was acting or she was giving a signal to Nathan . Maybe he directed?

The beginning of the song reminds me of "In Private" by Dusty Springfield.

It's definitely not a catchy song, like I Can Buy You, I might have to listen to it several times to 'know' the song.
I just listened (watched) to the song once.
And oh, when A Camp came out with I Can Buy You, I said to myself it's not my taste, but I after the 2nd single SFTL, I felt in love with the album including ICBY. Ha!
I'm surely gonna buy the album next year.

About the video, maybe they made it in budget with limited spending. It's still cool though

Anyway, Nina looks too thin ... miss the 90s chubby cheek Nina LOL

I think it's a bit sad that there are comments about how she should look more pretty or curvy, she looks beautiful but isn't that besides the point? I'd have been happy if she was wearing a chicken costume, it's new music!!

Anyway. I wasn't totally sure at first. I'm still not over-keen on the production, but the song is really growing on me after a few listens, this often seems to happen with her new stuff and I think it's because we all have very high expectations of her and perhaps bring our own preconceptions about the sort of music we expect to hear. It's good to be a little more open-minded though, right? I think the album is going to be great, I'm really excited.

What I meant about her look is that she's beautiful being as simple as she is and the video doesn't make her justice. She could be chubby or gained weight... that's not the case. Adele is not in shape, for example, but in her videos, the director and make up artists make her look great.
I know she could have shone in this video. She has a stiff expression. Too serious. She looks stressed and tired. Maybe because the several takes of the video. I'm pointing out her expression. Nothing else.
The song is growing on me but just because I love all of her work. But maybe if the singerwere another artist, I wouldn't pay too much attention on it.
On the other side, it's true what you say Kelly, we all put all our expectations on her work and that's hard to fulfill when we listen the real work and not our dreamed album.

I love the song.

In fact, I already like it better than anything on the last A Camp album (which I do like, by the way).

And of course, the video is similar to "Sweetest Thing" by U2. But of course, videos consisting of single takes predate that song as well...

Hi Kelly! See below :)

Link: http://www.lojinx.com/releases...t-single

Excerpt:

This is the first solo release from Nina, and her first album out since she, Niclas Frisk and Nathan Larson released “Colonia” as A Camp in 2009. Her other band, The Cardigans, have not released an album since 2005. “Animal Heart” was written and produced by Nina along with her husband film composer & novelist Nathan Larson (A Camp, Shudder To Think) and Eric D. Johnson (The Shins, Fruit Bats).

"The most difficult and maybe also the best thing about going solo is probably all the decisions you make alone. Somewhere inside, I have a very clear clock, a gut feeling, that says what I think. I have forced myself to just keep going and follow only my gut with this album. I have simply no time to dwell on things anymore which I did a lot before," says Nina.

Since The Cardigans’ last album and the two critically acclaimed albums by A Camp, Nina has performed as part of The Citizens Band, featured on the Sparklehouse/Danger Mouse collaboration “Dark Night Of The Soul” and started a family.

The goods news is that “Animal Heart” - the album and single – see Nina back on form with the return of her wonderfully distinctive voice carrying finely crafted songs. Perhaps unsurprisingly, themes include moving forward without getting caught in the past in addition to the perennial topics of relationships and alienation.

Nina has recently been playing a few select shows with The Cardigans in various parts of the world and will be over to the UK to play solo dates in early 2014. Meanwhile, "Animal Heart", the album, is something truly exciting to look forward to in 2014.

i like a lot, well, nina's voice ever twirl me....

the track is really pleasant with the new instrumentation... it's cool to see the a-camps usage of these techno-club sound... it's like some new clothes, same people-soul into but new apparence... more into-the-groove (baby) but with some prudence and wiseness in the usage of these sound, not too much...

somes may find it uncatchy as me at the first listening, but i do admit that the pattern or the little gimmicks that walk straight on with no pertubation appaers damed cool... as time flows, and can't be stopped, and need things o be said or done right now..
i follow and i will continue to follow, i like they're interpretation of our modernity.
