I thought it would be a nice idea if we could all battle negative vibes in the universe by posting here whatever has made us happy, jolly, amused or simply giggle a little bit during the day.

For me it was definitely coming back home to Jönköping for Christmas break with my family. Aaaah I never thought I would be so happy to see good ol' Jönne but after 6 hours in a bus it was heaven on earth. (Some people argue it is heaven on earth... but then again some think it's the portal to hell itself. :P)

What made you happy today?

^ I just finished classes on Thursday and at the beginning of the semester I was really nervous while I was getting ready to start a nursing exam because I had a flashback of a patient I had once who was an 8-year old boy and his lungs started filling up with fluid and he couldn't breathe.

A code blue was called and the respiratory team was called up on an emergency to the unit but I will never forget the sound of his choking and I didn't think I could get over the nightmares of his choking and it was hard - but I was able to work through that this semester!!! I have now finished classes two days ago!!! Then when I had to go in to do my last nursing exam of the semester another one of my friends was shot, my grandmother had gone into the hospital to die, and your patients can pick up when you are not in a good mood but I remained calm, put my patient at ease with every touch and everything went really well!!! And there's no better feeling than when you have a patient that is relaxed through your touch and trusts you to be their nurse.

That was a really great moment.

great idea!
i found a very nice x-mas card in my mailbox today, from a girl i got to know only some months ago. I've only seen her aroundfour or five times ever since, but each time was great fun. once we went out to party and she stayed at my place because she doesn't live around here. we came home at four in the morning and had to get up at ten, nevertheless we couldn't sleep but just talked for hours, real girls stuff. so today i find this beautfil card with a great pic of her dressed up like an angel, and it says she's really glad we met and she wants to invite me for brunch in our fave café...and she is going to move to berlin next spring.
it was a total surprise, and a very sweet one!

I met two very nice friends of mine tonight after a long decade of missing them. We had dinner and drank some juice. It was quite nice.
I´m also happy coz another friend told me to invite me to king kong tomorrow.

A really good saturday...
and t.rex, I envy you for your knitting-skills. makes xmas shopping needless! I have to create another mix tape for my friends!

I was really down in the dumps today. At one point I just started aimlessly browsing around the house ... and I came across a whole bunch of pages that had lyrics I wrote when I was 16.

I wish I kept that going, to be honest. I didn't think they were all that good when I wrote them, but just reading them today - they're actually quite good. One song I wrote has the very clever title "Scum". It's basically me slagging off every person that I didn't like [because they were jerks] from my year at secondary school. That might sound mean but ... I laughed myself silly reading it ...

There's another, really really nice one that was written while I was reading some book called "The Prophet" [forget the name of the author]. A really beautiful song, and I'm pleased to say that I didn't plagerise a single word of it.

did you get my message: re my votes for the Cardies award ceremony? also, knitting (which every girl i know says is super-easy) is actually pretty tough, at least for the first month that you try it. i liken it to playing the guitar. if you can learn two guitar chords, you can knit. its very repetitive, all told.

again i say that if there were a "best cardifans hair" category, you would have my vote. oh, now i have to go to sleep.

Then you should keep writing then! You have made some demos, right? And the last time you said the biggest problem with your demo is that there were no lyrics - so make some music for these lyrics or write some lyrics for some demos!

So then CharlieCharlie should just get the "honorary" award for that category then!

All I can do is make a line - I can make an endless line with like a size I needle but I don't know how to do anything beyond that so I just gave it up!

And today he cancelled the meeting.

a good day always follows a bad one! that sucks, dudes!

t.rex, I recieved your votes, but i´m quite uncertain whether I should publish the results. I mean, there are some categories with at least 5 winners! so I might draw lots!

I have had one of the best days today!!! I don't know why I just can't even become sad by anything right now? I talked to my sister this morning and she is on her way up to New York right now because her best friends Anna's mother died yesterday. I don't know why we are hardly upset over this? But then - Anna and my sister also used to work in the World Trade Center for 13 years so this is far from being overwhelming to us and to them...

And then I went to see my dying grandmother today but it went wonderful! I have been thinking about this phenomenon...I am just surrounded by incredible suffering & death this Christmas season (I haven't even mentioned all the deaths or tragedies - it would take too much time!) yet I am just so unbelievably happy. There are plenty of reasons for it I think but maybe because I've always been surrounded by Jews my whole life - my sister married a Jew too - and today I was showing Beth the synagogue where the funeral was that I was talking about before.

At the cemetery I was screaming hysterically from crying so hard because his death was one of the harder ones (And I've buried many people over the years!) but at the funeral inside the synagogue we were almost rolling on the floor laughing so hard - at a FUNERAL!!! This was because Jews are so hilarious but you need to see a Jew in order to get how hilarious they are - you know what I mean, don't you!?!? Since they can laugh even through the hardest times then I wonder if maybe because I've been surrounded by Jews my whole life that I am just so incredibly happy despite the fact that I've been through so much death & suffering this Christmas season? Either way - I'm just so happy - this is one of my best Christmases!!!

my best friend found some tapes we recorded ten years ago, from a radio show we used to listen to every saturday night. gosh, we were twelce back then, and over-exitedly listened to the weirdest techno stuff from 95 today. we were really laughing most of the time, recognised a lot of great songs and i found out i still now all the lyrics to 'gangsta's paradise'. i'm gonna copy all those tapes to listen to them on my old walkman. what a step back into puberty, and what a great experience!

I couldn't go anywhere today but that's ok - the strike is upsetting a lot of people but there's about 100 years of history as to why this is such a big deal. Bloomberg says the strike is going to cost New York over $400 million dollars a day so none of them are happy but I am still on this happy trip that it's so uncanny. So then I took care of the triplets all day who turned 3 months old last week. With three of them there is almost always someone in my arms at all times and it's soooo relaxing - I miss them already. Karen can't believe I'm not overwhelmed by this but I used to work in Maternity so 3 is nothing.
