It was very long, and there were no more balls, and they had to stop it ?

A black person as leader of the republican party.
It is fine, because two black people are leaders at the same moment, and they will experience democracy (with its opposition, and also with the necessity of finding arrangements for some important points).
The color of the skin of Obama will play a less important role in discussions, because he will face other black politicians.

Now, there are questions about "is it an important sign in the USA ? Is it now completely equality between white and black people ?"
The answer is probably obviously no, but the question is to make a step, and not to change it all in one evening (USAns never liked revolutions, they never had one in fact, and even the creation of the USA was not a revolution).

So it is fine.

Maybe I'm too silly, but two days ago I discovered Skype for myself;) One of my friends told me about this useful program and I installed it. Why didn't I know about Skype earlier???

Simple.
Because you had (or have) very few people to talk it.

There are many better programs.
Skype is just a free phone.
In a few years, you will have ADSL-boxes like in France, and that does the same thing (calling for free) with a normal phone (so it is better, we don't need a computer).

There are better programs. In fact, that could even deserve a thread. Could. Oh, I feel lazy suddenly.

Why will I have ADSL-box? I've been using such kind of router for a long time already.

Your box is a bit old.
With the new boxes, you connect a normal phone to the box, and it gives the same advantages as Skype.
It is a bit more comfortable, and one person can call with the phone, when another one uses the computer.

They play "the birds" of Hitchcock on french TV.

Can normal birds turn aggressive like that ?

A french writer of the 19th century, Jules Verne, is often referred to as the "Father of science fiction".
Verne wrote about space, air, and underwater travel before navigable aircraft and practical submarines were invented, and before any means of space travel had been devised (quoting wikipedia).

Will we say the same thing later for Hitchcock ?
Was he feeling something about the change in environment caused by industrialization ? And its influence on animals ?
The movie is scary. But I hope that the answer is yes, I hope that animals tried to warn us, so I class it here.

The attitude of Lilian Thuram.
He disagrees with the ideas of Sarkozy about several points, so he refuses to help enter this government (Sarkozy was proposing him a place for relations native-immigrants).

20 years ago, and for 40 years, France was the country of several political groups. At least 3 or 4 (including sometimes right extremist, that is a bit sad, but mainly because lepen gave this hatred atmosphere to the right extremist political group). The groups were : socialist, communist, or right extremists, or center right, or liberals, or green. Center left disappeared earlier.

Then it changed. Probably under american influence, since 20 years, we have two groups. Socialist and "right".
And since a few years, one group, the group of the president. Sarkozy finds that perfectly normal.
But everybody here fears the new idea of Sarkozy.

Thuram does not. He probably understands that political groups have a meaning, and that is fine.
If Sarkozy wants to share the government, there is a form that has been used, it is called "cohabitation". That means the prime minister must change, and must come from the socialist party. It is probably impossible now, as the parliament is strongly "right". Of course, it is probably possible to change it, Sarkozy can ask for a new election.

The link in french

Sarkozy gives a decoration to the author of Harry Poter.
She, J.K. (not Kennedy) Rowling, says "Je tiens aussi à remercier mes lecteurs français en général de ne pas m'en vouloir d'avoir donné un nom français à mon personnage maléfique".
Which means : "I gave a french name to Voldemort, the malefic character of the book, I see with pleasure that french people are not angry".
Voldemort means "fly of death".

Let see.
Planes bombing a city.
Paris, never. We had cannons bombing Paris, but planes, never.
We are malefic, we are protected :)

Thank you, LORDHUMONGOUS! By the way, I remember when you were just Ooklathemok…
Well, I won money ;) I like travelling and writing about travels. That’s why I began to collaborate with one magazine (this magazine publishes my articles). I write about my own journeys to taiga, to Russian North and illustrate them with my own photos. There’re articles about swamps, forests, rivers, ancient churches and little villages in the forests…I even didn’t except such reaction – but readers like my articles very much…People think that I’m crazy traveller and that’s true! Besides that, you can read one of my messages from taiga (I wrote it to Magnus and I’m sure he thought that I was a little bit crazy). Here it is:

"Hello, “The Cardigans”! Finally I have had an opportunity to visit your site again! I`m your old, old fan from Russia…Earlier I could visit your page every day , in any time (from the job or from home)…But I discharged from the job and now I`m situated a far from Moscow, on the Russian North, in taiga. By this moment I`ve been living in the small village more than 2 months, and there isn`t any possibility to go to the Internet. Today I`ve found a way to do it! I`ve sailed on a boat to another village and there is one old computer with Internet. It means that such simple act like visiting your page…became into something unusual and joyful for me:-) Well, firstly I`d like to say that I`m missing a lot another people from this community…And also it was interesting to read your answers, Magnus:-) I have no questions about creation of the band at all (I`m scared of these questions!), I just want to add that I`m still listening to your music like years ago. Me and my parents are going to stay here in the village till the middle of September. But by this time I`ve already made 2874 photos and 407 videos…I don`t know what should I do with all this stuff! Maybe it would be good to make some movies about Russian taiga? I`ve got wonderful photos and videos of birds, insects, mushrooms, squirrels, cones from fir-trees, quick forest rivers, waterfalls, stones, shells and ruins of old houses in villages without inhabitants…And also I make hundreds photos of amazing sunsets and starry skies at nights…By the way, “LGBD” is very suitable album for listening at nights here:-) Frankly speaking, there is a real misunderstanding that Russia opened herself for you only from one side – you saw that ugly Maxidrom, Moscow and St. Petersburg…I`d say Vologoskaya oblast (Vologodskiy region – the place where we`re resting at our village house) could leave better memories in the heart:-)
Excuse me, if my letter is too long. The point is that I haven`t been in the Internet more than two months and become a little bit wild:-)

Welcome back!

MagnusS, 2008-08-18 16:11:10"

I wrote this letter some months ago, when I had a chance to use Internet (it was really hard there).

But now I won the contest - it means those trips helped me!
I hope there will be opportunities to see new places in the future...
