you can all analyse my decision now.
If you don't tell more, we can not analyse.
In your words, Estonia does not seem attractive at all...

That means ?
It is not attractive in the real world, and not just in your words ?

In my opinion, this is a really small country. Maybe my words will sound insulting, but this is really really small, you go there, you need to learn the language, and you probably never go again there during your life :(

I donīt know. thatīs why I said I donīt know why I didnīt go there.

yes I think itīs a small country too. Tallinn is quite small, but the old town and the center are so really beautiful. but go ten km to some direction and itīs not pretty.. but I donīt think itīs even that.

and it wasnīt the language. you can manage with english, with finnish even. and to a finn, its quite easy to learn estonian.

but yes, I guess itīs unappealing to me. the country I mean. but I also think it would have been better then the situation now. and it would have been only some thirty minutes ferry trip from helsinki.

Do you like Helsinki ?
I mean, I am from Paris, I rather like big cities.
The stress, people running, I don't really care. Expensive prices (probably Helsinki is expensive too), I have that here too.
We are different. Some find Helsinki pretty attractive and some do not.
The question is not : "do you want to visit Helsinki" (most people want that), but do you want to go there each month, or more often ? Do you have friends there ?

Also is Tallinn looking like a Finnish city ? Maybe you want to see something different, really different ?

I think helsinki is ok. itīs not the prettiest, happiest or nicest place on earth, not even in finland, but its fine. I like big cities too, but helsinki is not really my cup of tea. for example I like stockholm alot more than helsinki. as a city I mean. I do not comment on the people (ü).

helsinki is expensive, but than again, so is this whole damn country! yes I want to visit helsinki and I do visit it quite often, cause I have friends there..

tallinn doesnīt really look like a finnish town. the old town looks like austria, the new center like USA or london city and the rest looks quite awful to be honest.

Looks like you don't like Tallinn.
I don't want to visit Tallinn, even visit, after your description.

You could go there for studies, for work ? If that is for studies, was the university better there or ?

Thanks Laaran for making my comment full.
I don't know Bugsy but Finnish really to cold and wear too much clothers.
Moldova is full of dirty gipsy. I just came bacj from it. And each year their per cent in Moldova population grow. Ukrainian women have money to buy food, mostly all. In fact very many women in Ukraine earn more than the men. Go to Estonia, it's really slow but funny!

Hmm, when I lived in Moldova, it was full of Russians and Ukrainians... I assume you're not confusing Romanians with Roma...?

I am not sure that those people were Russians and Ukrainians. It's all because the Soviet Union, where everyone had to know Russian no matter where he/she lives. Russians and Ukrainians appeared there because they were sent there to work in different plants and factories. Now the population speaks mostly Moldovian, even if you ask them something in Russian they'll answer in Moldovian which you don't know at all. Gipsy is real problem for the country, believe me. They are not Romanians, they are real gipsy.

When I was in Moldova during the summer of 1994, around a third of the country were Russian or Ukrainian speakers, with little or no knowledge of Romanian (or the invented identical language called Moldovan). All the (native) Romanian-speakers spoke Russian thanks to the Soviet Union, which had generally suppressed the use of Romanian.

Apart from the Russian secessionists in Transnistria, I can imagine that Romanian/Moldovan is now the dominant language and Russian and Ukrainian speakers have to use it in their everyday business. I can't imagine a Russian speaker replying in Romanian if you ask them something in Russian.

I made my somewhat flippant comment in reaction to your "dirty gypsy" comment. Moldova has bigger problems than travelling Roma. It's a country that's been screwed by history and geopolitics and I hope the progress in neighbouring countries like Ukraine and Romania will help it progress as well.

but to get back to the topic.. I donīt hate europe I hate parts of it. kinda like I love pasta but I hate spagetti. I have never met anyone who have said that "Iīm an european", and I have doubts about the euīs plans of making us all feel like a big family, like weīre alike. I donīt even feel like this place is part of europe, cause when I think of the word europe, I think of cultural and historical meaning of europe. to me europe is Napoleon, Marco polo, picasso, marx, the french revolution, simone de beavoir, roman empire, etc. can I feel a personal connection with these things? no. I think europe shoud be redefined, I mean who are we kidding? this ainīt even a continent.

I don't think that England should be part of the European Union. We're completely different to anywhere else in Europe and....we're not even attatched to Europe. We're an island. Anyway, i hate England. I hate London even more than any capital city in the world. It's so dirty and busy and the people are just so rude.

Don't worry amy, England's not part of the EU, the UK is... Try going to Finland and you can see what Europeanisms you share with bugsy.

Well I know that of course, i just worded it wrongly :) What do Finland and England have in common? Infact, what does England have in common with anyone (besides the high teen pregnancy rate and binge drinking)?

What does England have in common with Scotland and Wales...?
From my brief experience of Helsinki, I can tell you that Finns do binge drinking as well. Ask bugsy about teenage pregnancy, though perhaps they are a little less feckless.

If you want to get technical, England has its language in common with large parts of the world, it has a shared history with its ex-colonies and with the rest of Europe, it shares large chunks of legislation with the rest of the EU, it has a number of common values with the rest of Europe (see below) and if you really don't think there are some basic aspects of humanity that are common to us all, then you're going to have a pretty miserable life. Cheer up!

I quote from the now defunct proposed constitutional treaty of the European Union:

Article I-2 The Union's values

The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail.

Okay, okay...I agree with what you've said...but the reason i hate England isn't anything to do with anything we've discussed really. You try living in England after you've lived in Africa for several years. Its like being in prison :) But hey, no more sadness.

uhm, bad beer, awful food, ugly head of states, in both countries terrible music always tops the lists, I donīt know, something..

but england and finland are very different when it comes to crisp backage sizes. I hate those small, tiny things with only ten crisps inside. here they are around 300g and called chips!!!!!!!!
