When things are 100% percent official and ready you know they're gonna be on the news section right here. :) But this is promising indeed. It would be very unfair for all you Cardifans on the "wrong" side of the puddle not to get some Cardigoodness.

The LA date at the Avalon is Fri. Sept. 29. Tickets go on sale Jul. 28.

Frankly I think this sucks. Any bands that play at the Avalon on Friday and Saturday nights need to truncate their sets to clear out early for the dance crowd to come in. I went to one show at this venue on a Saturday night, and the headliners played for about an hour before having to cut things off. And that was with one opening band and 7 PM as the starting time. Ticketmaster's website has 8 PM as the starting time.

Not at all trying to dissuade people from going, but giving a warning that L.A. fans are going to be a bit cheated by this scheduling decision. Perhaps they'll play more than an hour, but we won't get the full setlist.

I both called and e-mailed them last fall regarding a Sat. night show and asked them by what time the show had to end in order for them to clean up. My e-mail inquiry went unanswered. The person I talked to told me what time the dance party kicked in (which I already knew since it says in the LA Weekly) but was either unable or unwilling to tell me what time they force the show to be over. Since I still vividly remember the first "half-concert" I attended there and since this wasn't a "can't miss" show for me, I decided to save my money.

Here's my guess. Figure the dance party starts at 10, which means that they'll probably force the band to wrap up by 9:30. If Ticketmaster is correct and the show starts at 8 (or the doors open at 8, which would be just insane if true), then that leaves an hour and a half for the Cardigans and the opening band.

It would be in everyone's best interest to either have the opening band come on at 7 or have the Cardigans play all of their songs like the Ramones.

The Band has not confirmed a US/Can. tour yet. Although the promoters seemed to have. So a tour is still not a 100%.

Hi Brian!
I, too, am from LA and have been to the Avalon on a Friday night for a Brazilian Girls concert. The show was scheduled at 8 but they did not go on until 9 or 9:30 (because of the opening act), and it ended at around 11:30 or even later! :)

As far as the dance crowd goes, they have separate rooms for it...maybe the band you saw played in one of the dancing rooms. I'm sure the Cardies will play in the Main room, which will be uninterrupted. Hope this helps...

I bought my ticket already today July 28. One thing also about Ticketmaster: it lists 4 different sections (Unreserved General Admission which is the floor, and 3 different Loge seatings) all for $20. As I can recall, both the upstairs and downstairs are unreserved.

Well, I hope you change your mind. The Avalon is a really nice venue with an awesome sound system.
