OMG! IT SUCKS SOOOO HARD!!! BBBADLY!
I just heard it on her website http://www.lauramichellekelly.co.uk/. I got curious and had to check it out. That woman sucked out every little ounce of life out of the song. It makes me a sad little man...
Although royalties for Peter and Nina = goodness I guess.
OMG I hope she doesn't get famous for it and then I have to walk around the rest of my existance going "IT'S A CARDIGANS SONG! DAMMIT!!!" |

it does SUCK. She sings like any other formatted female singer, the arrangements are pure muzak, it's awful. |

It truly is awful. I think Laura Michelle Kelly owes the Cardigans an apology. |

Say it isn't so! Can we as Cardigans fans do anything to stop her? |

Imitation is a form of flattery but it's a true shame that they've somehow managed to turn such a fine song into a less exceptional song. Agree with t.rex, how can you make a cover of a 2 year old song your debut single??
Do you think she'll pull off what Nathalie Imbruglia did with Torn and no one will know the original? |

wow, aren't you all overacting a bit..okay, maybe this version is not as good as the original (of course...), but it's not like it sounds terrible. i mean, this girl is not a bad singer or so. and if she likes that song so much she's gonna put it out as a single why don't appreciate that? |

But i agree with Annika. Of course this version is rather bad, but itīs an cheesy, American-Idol-esque Pop Version of it. And after all, it still is a pretty good song. Even in this version you can hear that itīs well written, but terrible produced. Like so many other popsongs.
And it shows us, how unique and brilliant the Cardies are. |

ok,she has a nice voice..but,I'm really not for that, like I said,I don't like covers, much, and especially in this case, when the song (lyrics) is sooo personal.. How can you sing it as your own(!?)
Hum,young singer,and already lacking of inspiration (?!).. |

yeah, isn't this exactly what we see with all those american idol/popstars/etc. casted bands? sorry, this has nothing to do with laura michelle kelly anymore...but i wondered how they can cast bands on the tv and promotoe them really hard, and than the three signles they release from their first album is one self-made song and two cover versions of eurythmics or whatever. i never listened to one of the records of a tv-casted band, but how bad must their own stuff be when they use covers as singles. is their no plan to write those bands some decent tunes while they are being casted?
there's my golden heart melting away, showing the nastyness underneath ... ;-) |

It is good that Peter and Nina get some appreciation (and royalties) as songwriters and perhaps some people might want to go and find the original to find out how it should be played and produced - but it's still annoying to hear any of your favourite songs reinterpreted in an unexceptional way. |

Hmmm, I don't really like the cover that much - she made very commercial with this bizarre middle 8 she did. I don't think anyone should really take on The Cardigans with covers - its just not worth it! The covers that work really well are the ones where they make it their own so to speak, but the pace verse/chorus are identicle almost to the original. Meh, *inserts LGBD* |

Basti just sent me the song and I think it is okay. OF COURSE itīs not as good as the original, and loads of the energy from the Cardigans original got lost in her cover (e.g. the record for being impatient-part, there are feelings in this song, Laura!), but itīs still okay. Her voice is a bit unspectacular, but, yeah... As long as she doesnīt cover Feathers And Down or And Then You Kissed Me everythingīs alright. Donīt you dare to cover those two songs, musicians out there! |

Never heard of her.
And, judging from the comments here, don't think I'd care too.
Although, I suppose it's fair to mention that at least she has good taste in music. (or maybe her manager or someone at her record company does...) |

Yeah... maybe if you've never heard the original...
But hey daniel_o, I once did the puck version of Carnival with my brother at a little show in a college dorm. It seemed to go over pretty well, but I was nervous as can be.
The main thing was people commented that they liked the song.
So I guess we were able to do it a little justice. I hope. |
