Hey all
I know the Brits and some other Europeans have already seen this movie from 2005, so what do you all think?
I thought it was bloody brilliant, very well done and much better than the usual run of the mill horror flicks.

Weigh in on the film

PS Superman Returns was not good at all, save for the Brandon Routh casting as Superman

Parkey Posey was by far the best part of Superman.

...in my HUMBLE opinion.

Use the forum search engine, I already created a swell The Descent-Thread months ago!!!!!!!

But, yeah: This film is brilliant. And I´m going to see Superman Returns next week, when it starts here in Germany. I simply love Clark and Lois, but will the modern version top Margot Kidder and Chris Reeve?

No Way CharlieCharlie dont worry about whether or not they will top the Kidder/Reeve combo.

Swampsong i will say the comment about parker posey by Kate Bosworth was hilarious

SNAKES ON A PLANE!!!! (sorry to butt in on The Descent :) )
Holy Crap!!! What a genius money-maker popcorn-spillfest concept.
You'll piss yourself laughing at this one and I think that's what we need these days when you can't bring toothpaste or cologne on a plane...hey everyone ---let's all smuggle snakes in our pants...

Ok. I finally got around to watching the Descent on DVD after all the comments. It was pretty good too, though I thought the ending was a bit of a letdown.

The crappy thing is: The film contains two different endings. There is the official european ending (which is the good one), where after a vision of a rescue, Sarah is still in the cave and talks to her deceased daughter. Very depressing and unusual ending, which results some open questions.

The US ending is an ending for the dumb MTV-Generation, which only shows the rescue. It ends with Sarah sitting in the car being exhausted.

In short:

US Version : happy-end, superficial, the hero survives

Euro-Version : Discuss-worthy, raises lots of questions, anything else than a happy ending.

So which versions have you seen?

I actually saw the European version. I think the U.S ending(despite being un-original) would have suited the movie better. The european ending, while more interesting, I felt was badly executed and kind of just there to cheat the audience. It actually kind of reminded me of the ending to Switchblade Romance(High Tension).
