Hey!
As I write this, my wife is feeding the baby (don't worry, I'm no bum - and I'm changing diapers and everything...)
Monday (Aug. 7, 2006) afternoon we had a beautiful baby girl brought into the world.
I'm pretty tired right now, but as soon as I've had more sleep and time to process all this, I'll try to descibe how it feels to have this tiny person suddenly a part of your life.
For now, a few facts:
Her first name is Vilja (a Swedish name my wife picked - it means "will")
and her middle name is Evangeline (I decided this while loking through a baby name book and also was thinking of the song "Evangeline" by The Band) - the name means "one who brings the good news or the gospel)
She was born 7lbs 8oz (or 3,422 grams) and 19 in. (48.3 cm)
My wife gave birth naturally, no epidural or c-section (which is now very common here in the U.S.) - so she was tough and I'm proud of her!
She likes it when I sing to her (including Cardigans songs).
Anyway... real tired still... so I'm going to get some sleep!

Hey hey hey, congratulations!!! Big welcome to Vilja Evangeline - a baby Bac! And many congrats to your your wife, especially without pain relief... Hope she didn't call you too many bad names...
A whole new life ahead and you'll wonder what you used to do with all your time before your little girl arrived in your lives...! Sleep well! |

Congratulations! Aawww... isn't she the sweetest thing? ^-^
The name Vilja would sound very strange here in Sweden but as an English name I must say that you made a very beautiful and unorthodox choice. Evangeline is pretty too.
May I even be so bold as to suggest a pet name? "Evie" sounds pretty don't you think? And it kinda includes both Vilja and Evangeline.
Anyway... the cute baby makes me rant.... many congrats again! |

Awww...usually people tell fresh parents that their baby is sooo cute und pretty. But HONESTLY : your little girl is super extra pretty indeed! And her name is beautiful as well.

hehehe -- yeah, she's going bald already! Most newborn babies are actually not as cute as they'll look a few months later because they're often sorta wrinkled and discolored and stuff, but she came out looking real cute. (Not that I'm biased...)

Well, we found that "Vilja" is rare in Sweden (about 145 people with the name there according to scb.se ) which is one reason we chose it. Plus, it seems to work well for English and Swedish (strange as it may be).
Hmmm... "Evie"... we'll see, it's not bad though. It may evolve as a nickname over time.

I like Vanja too, although I really like Vilja alot. My wife thinks Vanja sounds a bit too Russian (guess she doesn't like russian names). But you were close! :-)
