The problem is that "connect" and "disconnect" aren't similar words in Swedish and that the word "connect" in Swedish can be so many things depending on the situation. "Anknyta", "ansluta" "förbinda", "förena", "koppla" and more. Most those words could fit into the context of the song, with only minute differences in significance, but my best adaptation (which still sounds goofy) would be:
"Jag vet inte hur man kopplar på, så jag kopplar bort"
It doesn't quite say the same thing as in English, but there's the connect/disconnect = koppla på/koppla bort similarities that is the centre of the phrase. More significantly correct translations could be:
1) "Jag vet inte hur man anknyter, så jag bryter anknytningen"
2) "Jag vet inte hur man ansluter, så jag bryter anslutningen"
3) "Jag vet inte hur man förbinder, så jag bryter förbindelsen"
But there what's litterally being said is: "I don't know how to connect, so I break the connection"... not quite the same poetic ring. |
