Hello,

I haven't been around for a while, so I'm a bit out of the loop, so forgive me if there's been news...

What's going on with The Cardigans then? I'm from the UK and "Super Extra Gravity" didn't do much over here. "Don't Blame Your Daughter" was said to be released in April this year. Despite the video being shown a few times, it never actually came out.

I've read that "Godspell" is to be a single - has this been confirmed? Will it be released in the UK?

I was worried they'd split, "Super Extra Gravity" fizzled out so quickly over here and there has only been one single from the album, which came out nearly a year ago.

Thanks.

1. Don't Blame Your Daughter and its b-sides were only released as downloads outside of Sweden, so check iTunes or other download stores.

2. Magnus said on the Ask the Band section that Godspell was going to be the next single 'cause the company showed him the artwork. However, he's heard nothing about video recording or release dates so there's a suspicion that there might not be a third single.

3. Super Extra Gravity didn't do stellarly in the UK as you say. Nothing more to say about that. It's gonna be released in the US on September 19th though.

Check the Ask the Band section for recent answers. :)

I only add media-related news on the news section, not official stuff about releases and such, but I keep a little fansite too: http://cardigans.marvelhill.vze.com. Read the recent entries and I guess you'll be up to date. :)

Well since Universal UK didn´t do..... about our two last albums we´re not surprised.
I´m not allowed to say this but it´s true. But we´re still hanging on, played tonight in Copenhagen infront of 6000 people supporting Massive Attack. Not bad.

Hey Magnus-
This is crosseyed from the old Forum.
I listened to SEG again today and decided to sign up.
The album is so good! Me and a drummer tried playing
In The Round a few times last winter - I thought it sounded great but she's more into Rush and Led Zeppelin. Anyway, I still play my
acoustic everyday and excited by your fellow interest in Barbershop singing. I've been trying some acapella songs at local coffee houses.
I probably won't be posting a lot because I'm busy trying to get some sort of group together. Hi Astrid, Tina, and all the other names Per, Anita, Dale, the guys in France and Russia who had Cardi websites.
Keep on Rockin! Wish I was in Copenhagen the other night. Have a Righteous time in Brazil.

I didn't even see the Don't blame your daughter video anywhere here in the UK, nor could I get the single. I saw the video online.
I saw the Fine Wine video twice and that was it, and I didn't see it on any of the MTV channels at all. The promotion for both LGBD and SEG was barely existent. I don't think most people even knew the band had made anything since Gran Turismo! Some people have been lucky enough to stumble across the last two albums by accident, but I think most of the country are unaware of them.

It's so sad to see this happen to the band you love, and of course it's all about profit. I guess record companies find ex-soap stars and girlbands more lucrative, so don't bother putting their cash behind smaller bands, particularly if they've taken career breaks. Very sad.

Thanks for all your help everybody.

Kelly, I know, it's such a shame. I saw "Don't Blame Your Daughter" on B4 a couple of times and the bumper said it was to be released in April. "I Need Some Fine Wine..." was played a few times on E4, but I first saw the video when I got the single. "Super Extra Gravity" promotion has been dire here in the UK. I think even "Long Gone Before Daylight" had more backing - at least the band performed "For What It's Worth" on CD:UK and I think the video had been aired a few times. It's a shame the band's last couple of releases haven't even dented the UK official chart.

^ Oh but they did! Long Gone peaked at #47 and Super Extra Gravity at #75. Which makes it even more painful 'cause it shows that people like it only that the wider audience doesn't know they have a record out.

That was my feeling too. People DID buy the records, just not in their drones, and that was with virtually no promotion. I am pretty certain that with good promotion, the last two albums would have done very well.

If the majority of people had any musical taste whatsoever, then they would know that SEG was released. I also blame the musical press fairly & squarely for not publicising the album.

A lot of these radio stations these days claim to be on the pulse and play what is good. It's quite clear to me that most of them really don't have a clue, and most of the presenters are just muppets.

See my other rant thread for further on this one.

what a shame!!

seems Universal in nothing better that Virgin Records, they all only promote SHIT and sometime some average releases as a special hits. That's why since the end of the '90s all we have in popular music are artifially prepared one season hits
