Ovetande artister med på politisk skiva

Stockholm (PM)

Short translation : September 6 the record company National are going to release an album "Du är dina val". On the record will be Swedens biggest artists - Soundtrack of our Lives, Lisa Miskovsky and Nina Persson.

I wonder if this will be a solo track or one from SEG?

very interesting. did i understand this right that it has something to do with politics?

according to cdon.com the tracklist is this:
01: Somliga Går I Trasiga Skor
02: Jag Är En Liten Gosse
03: Bängen Trålar
04: Allt Vad Jag Begär
05: Guld Och Döda Skogar
06: Dyrt Att Va Fattiglapp
07: Lång Bort Härifrån
08: Hanna Från Arlöv
09: Årstider
10: Höj Din Röst
11: 1789 + 0
12: Veckans Affärer
13: Sent En Lördagskväll
14: Staten Och Kapitalet

so i guess the song feat nina is Bängen Trålar

The thing is that the artists don´t even know that they are on the album. It´s done without their permission and knowledge. Soundtrack.. said that they never ever would be on a political record. So this is just a political thing since sweden is about to choose a new minister to lead our country. I´m not going to buy it!

thats very interesting, pillan! so you mean the cd if violating copyright laws? there must be a way for tsool to stop it, then. who's releasing it, btw? what's this LO doing, what kind of background do they have?

^Hahahaha.... LO is the biggest worker's union here in Sweden. And I doubt they're violating copyright laws. ;) All of those songs are old protest songs from the 60s-70s (in new versions) so they fit with the union's politics. But it doesn't necessarily mean that the artists are endorsing that political movement, even though most of them I presume share most of their politics - or else they wouldn't have recorded the songs I guess.

The problem is that now it looks like the artists are actively endorsing the union when all the union did was buy the rights to publish the songs in a compilation -as opposed to asking the artists to contribute. None of those recordings are new.

i should have guessed by reading a song name like 'staten och kapitalet'...so did i get it right that all these songs are like modern pop versions of protest songs? that sounds like advertising worker's unions to young people, like 'hey kids, its hip to be a unionist.' i might be wrong, just interpretating...
when's the election, btw? i'd really like to know more about all this political stuff..

^ Something like that, yes. But it is hip to be a unionist. ;-) I'm in the student union and in the scientist/researsher's unit.

What isn't hip is to make it look like the artists are endorising them without even asking.

Elections are on the 17th btw.

Surely if you've recorded a protest song, you don't mind if it gets a little promotion...? What are you protesting about if not? Unless you protest about your protest song getting hijacked by a union you don't particularly support... Then you can record another song to protest etc etc.

^ Hahahaha! I don't think the artists are protesting. I just think they think it's strange that LO is saying "these artists support us and our cause!" when they weren't even asked.

But yeah, if they recorded the song to begin with, I don't think they disagree with LO's "ideology" that much to begin with - being leftists protest songs and all.
