A nice review! He's right about the Cardigans losing some audience in the U.S., but not su much when talking about their overall success outside Sweden.
A good review, but why not at least an 8? :-) |

Thanks for the article Laika! Yeah, back in the nineties my friends were really into The Cardigans, but so into indie-rock that they are, seemed to have maintained interest only in the new Swedish bands like The Knife and The Charades, JUST TO NAME TWO! One of those friends made a dvd-r of going to Stockholm's Emmaboda Festival. So much cool stuff. Anyway, I mostly agree with everything in the article like "it’s clear the Cardigans are content with their current middle-of-the-road direction." But I think before long they could topple U2 at being the world's band. I also agree with Dale's Proverbs quote, so I'll stop. |

I used to write for PopMatters and in fact, I wrote about LGBD a few years back. It was big feature...

Just tryin' to help out! :)
Bac, did you ever read that best of list from i think it was the Dallas newspaper. But one of the music critics picked LGBD for his best of 2003 list. I was so stoked to see that! |

Hmmm... I don't remember that. Do you have it or a link somewhere?
The only thing I remember is the review of the CWA concert (it was a good review).
And there was a mention of LGBD when it came out. It was brief - positive - but not on a list.
I have all those articles at home, btw. |

Thank you ranchtooth...just trying to convey how I honestly feel about the record. I remember bringing it up to the editor/publisher of PopMatters at SXSW a few years back, and (she orginally did the review for GT), and she made this face of wonder. I hope that my review made her pick up the record. I hope it made others pick up the record. But definately, LGBD deserves to be on that list.
Bac, I think it was a best of list. I don't have the link. I'll see if I can find it and email it to you. :) |
