This is a rather short review and doesn't really get much into the album at all, but from what is does say, it seems positive about SEG and negative about the Cardies playing Lovefool and the tour in North America that was "cancelled".
It's from a site called, perfectporridge.com
Anyway, here it is for what it's worth.

Oh, and I'm sure the boys will appreciate out with "...Nina Person and crew..."

What a complete non-review. They spent all of one sentence talking about the music that's on Super Extra Gravity. That certainly points to how poor of a review perfectporridge.com conducts.

I have to agree. I guess on one hand I thought, "Well, at least they listened to it (pressumably) and bothered to write something... but yeah, it's not exactly what you could call "in depth"".

Bac,

It kills me to see two of the Cardigan's great records be completely ignored in America. Argh...

I know, man. I think if GT had gotten more attention, then it would have helped to keep them in people's memories after Lovefool. But as I recall, 1998 was the rise of boy-bands and solo-pop-female singers (e.g. Britney Spears, Aguilera, etc.)

It sucks because all of their albums since FBOTM have been given very positive reviews (generally). So they're critically acclaimed, but they just aren't pulling in the sales here.

Most of the time I can play any Cardigans album of late (LGBD or SEG) and people say, "Wow... that's great!", but not enough people hear it. I think that some good promotion would make all the difference.

But yeah, it's a cryin' shame. They've got lots of fans here, but we're all over the map.

My dream is to see them on a show like "Austin City Limits" or "Sound Stage". That'd be sweet, don't ya think?

So... next time they tour the U.S., they should consider it... I love the concerts on ACL. The sound is always real crisp... so Petri, if you're reading this, think about it! ;-)
They take international artists now!

Hello, Bac! It`s Lera from Russia. I`ve got some questions non about "The Cardigans". Firstly, what do you think of Russians? Many american citizens guess we`re stupid, there`re a lot of bears on Moscow`s streets and we drink only vodka!!! ;)))

Hey Lera,
Well, use messenger next time since this is the Cardigans related forum! But, briefly, I like Russians fine, but I can't say I've met many! I've never been there... the closest I've been is Poland.

A friend of mine has a brother that speaks russian and has lived and worked in Moscow.
I'm guessing that you only have bears in places like the wilderness in Siberia or in zoos! :-) But, there are probably plenty of stupid Americans who would think there are bears in downtown Moscow and polar bears in the streets of Stockholm!
Maybe some think of vodka because of Boris Yeltsin? Who knows? :-)

Bac,

I would love to see the Cardigans grace ACL. Being from Austin, Texas, I think their new sound fits perfectly into the ACL (and the festival) demographic. But for some reason, they just haven't gotten it here in the states. It really bothers me because being at the Sparklehorse show at Emo's, I saw an entire packed show. And EVERYONE was singing...i was thinking, you know, i can see The Cardigans filling up a venue such as Emo's...and people will come. SEG is fantastic. LGBD is my sentimental favorite...and well...i love this band.

it sucks i missed them in san antonio and dallas back in '04.

No, I think you`re wrong about bears ;) At summer I spend vacations in deaf taiga, in the small village. It`s situated in the Russian North, where`s Motherland of Father the Frost :) And once upon, when I was riding my bicycle calmly...I saw little bear-baby! He was going from nearest wood, maybe he was with his mother... At less, I was fearing from horror!!! Don`t remember how can I go away...
By the way, do you know our politics??? Wow! I didn`t expect...Today morning I firstly listened to "And then you kissed me" and "Don`t blame your daughter". Cool :)

Yeah, I mean they could easily have a bigger audience then they have now. Maybe the Cardigans will have to do a tour where they support someone that has an audience with good taste? At least Liz Phair brought them on CWA. I like Liz Phair fine, but I've never followed what she's doing closely or anything. Still, the exposure must've helped.

But truly, the problem isn't just with the Cardigans lack of promotion. Let's face it, a lot of people in this country (and in other places too) listen to pretty crappy music. Many people I meet on a day-to-day basis really love listening to Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Emminem, Kanya West, etc.

It's nice and shallow, insipid, disposable pop, you know.... (Most of it is anyway...) I mean, some of it really sucks. I can't stand it, but people buy it and love it.

Anyway, I understand your frustration. * sigh *

I agree... plus, they played Austin back in '97 as well. Although, I guess they go where they're given the opportunity.
