I vote for both! (Even though neither is likely.)

I think Mags meant that they may start on a new album in December.

I think it's too early to start speculating about anything.

Come on! Let's give them some space people!

Well, it's maybe too early but it's cool that Magnus himself wrote that they'll probably start on a new album around christmas.

so, HOORAY for that! -- I'm always glad to hear they have any plans at all, I almost starved between 1999 and 2002 not knowing what was happening.

Strike while the iron's hot.
Some bands are prolific and release a non-stop stream of material. Others wait years between releases.
Look what the Beatles did from 1962-69! Yikes!
Babies ain't no reason to sit on your ass and complain. Just tour with the family, around the family, be a family together.
The band's proven they can tour where they want to when they want to, pretty much in demand around the world.
The world wants more so give it to them. (Thank-you. -The World!)

You just can't understand how it's difficult to go somewhere with little babies, babies are not supposed to go in long trips it's not good for their health -physical and phycological. Other aspect the little children grow very fast and the band-fathers can miss the stuff which will never repeat - like the first word, first tooth, first step and it's very important for parents to be with their children in such special moments, is it sooo difficult to understand? The group has their rights to choose what to do and when to do. The family is very important and you began to feel it even more especially when you travel very much and you are far away from your wife/husband and kids. Children -the flowers of the life. Every working person on earth has the vacation time, for your attention Kv2.0 these time theCardigans have too!
The last: leave the band members alone!!! They need some private space too!!! They need their families, favourite couches, cups of tea, football and hockey leagues and other stuff!!! Give them some rest. I am sure that they like us, their fans ,but they can't love aus and pay attention to us and our wishes all year round!!!
People relax!!!Because this everything gets annoying even a fan, not to say about the band member.
Happy autumn to everyone!
No offence!

Magnus has already said that the band might start writing new stuff over the winter anyway.

I would love to see the Cardigans live in the U.S. at some point in the near future. But I can wholly understand why family committments have to come first for them. And I'm a musician. I couldn't imagine asking my family to come on tour with me. It's rough. The road is not easy. Most major label bands wind up touring by bus unless they're headlining arenas or stadiums. I couldn't imagine subjecting my family to the rigors of a tourbus for 3 weeks straight.

Woops! I really need to pull my foot outta my mouth!
I admit I was wrong on the family/babies/tour thing.
(as Kelly so shrewdly surmised ;)
I have no experience in these matters!

I must relive the 2006 SEG tour experience blearily through cellphone video-captures on youtube dropping big salty tears into my beer.

I have great hopes for the future and for the Cardigans-long may they create!!!

Like Magnus says, an album duration with singles, touring etc for a band usually lasts 18 months-ish, which for SEG is kind of drawing to a close, apart from in USA.

So, i would imagine that the band may have a bit of a rest, and maybe try and write some new stuff maybe early next year.

I hope they record something very different...!!!! no more LGBD & SEG sounds..., that would be nice, and maybe another chance to have a hit! a big hit! .. something like lovefool, erase, carnival, mfg ... but in a new sound!!! yep...

i know what you mean abput the surprise, like i totally didn't know long gone was there until i heard for what it's worth on the radio ( i had no internet at that time), but it was also great to hear about the recording progress regularly like it happened with super extra gravity. if i had one wish for a new record at some point in the future, it would be to regularly read about how it's being recorded, again!

I just want a new album that rocks like a bastard, just like SEG. With that similar sound, but even better.
