Why often rock is associated with drugs and drunkards? Why? It`s only psychodelia of 1960 years can be relatived with them, on my opinion. Why are people such superficial? Rock`s not guilty that many musiciants can be compared with like Tommy Lee from "Motley Crue" ;)

It's called "Excess" and is the result of success too quickly>You get money >you get fame> it goes to your head>you get high.
You want more> everyone around you wants more> so they get you high >then you can't live up to everyone's expectations>so you get high. (maybe you get lazy, lose your recording contract, become suicidal.)
That answers some of it. Maybe you are correct thinking that rockstars of today emulate the bad habits of the old rockstars because they think that's what you have to do.

Sorry to be so sarcastic... But:

sometimes I see new """""rock""""" bands with members on drugs, alcohol... and I really feel/think "poor people, they really deserve to find themselves somewhere else (drugs-alcohol) because... gosh, their songs are really really awful, they will never get a real chance to compose a good song and express themselves by music".

it's actually about boredom. everyday for weeks at a time, sometimes a year, you're waiting or travelling which is all very mindnumbing......what else is there to do besides drink and drugs? read a book? yeah right.

there's this saying in germany that can be translated to:
' i can have fun without the alcohol'. funnily, you might as well turn it into: 'i can have alcohol without the fun.'
well, my point is: there are probably a lot of drunkards out there, and they are not rock stars...

I think the majority were addicts before they were rock stars.

I think the majority were pretending to be somebody addicted to something before they started (unfortunately) the music career.

my question would be... why the music made by drugs adiccts is the best one??? i mean...jimmy hendrix, vaughan, miles davis, they were usually high and they are really icons in what they did, and i guess mozart was a kind of alchoolic.....does our creativity need a little extra help from exciting substances??? its that our brains from ther own cant get to that level of magnificence????? i hope you can understand my point......and i guess drugs arent only in the rock ambient...

You have a point. But drugs doesn't enhance just music. Take sports for example. And some of my friends and I funniest exploits were under the influence.

The creativity comes first. Like Mozart- a child prodigy. A musical genius who from an early age displayed talent. He may have become an acoholic later...

Most accounts I've read of rock stars say the drugs take away the ability to be creative.
