Live in Helsinki yesterday.
I went to the concert because it was a gift from some kind friends.

Comments about the concert:

WHAT A PIECE of crap, I still can't believe there are bands so untalented and uninspired... Can't believe they can sell records and make concerts in front of hundreds of finnish beautiful girls and boys.

It was absolutely a waste of time, just nice to see the crowd yawning.
Absolutely hateful to see the "band" playing with zero efforts zero-tune songs.

15 euros could be spent much better in Uff Second Hand shops!!

I know why I don't like gifts.
The worst is not losing your time, the worst is meeting your friends again, and trying to say something nice about the gift.

Actually...
The pretty super kind girls who gave me the ticket as a gift were there with me, during the concert!

And at the end, after just a small glass of red wine, I had to say "yeah, it´s ok... Just... few songs were almost ok, but the rest it was boring"

And they totally agreed with me, which is another little reason why I like my finnish friends here in Helsinki, they seem to be sincere, with no problems saying the things straight...

Anyway... It was really really crap. I cry once again over my dead band, booo hooo

Okay, do you mean Peter, Bjorn and John? Because I saw them live twice last month and they were absolutely wonderful.

Maybe they are the same people.
You saw them twice last month, maybe they were tired this month ? Artists should not work that much...

ts, emi, sometimes i really wonder what kind of music you're listening to? i get the impression you're not really into new music, because if your praising musicians its usually older once, but i havent heard anything like this about new bands from you...just wondering, you know how i mean that, right?

and btw: peter bjorn and john were good, indeed!
but maybe you only saw bjorn and john and missed peter and without peter its just not the same, lol ;-)

Yes, it was at Tavastia.
Yes, they were Bjorn and John. Probably Peter was having a musical dump in some toilet.

And... How can you consider "new music" somebody on stage, with '60s hairstyle, totally already listened changy changy '70s guitars and crappy imitation of atmosphere like The Jam-Clash-The Who???

Is that "new"?? I really felt those people don't deserve to be on a stage, that's it. I've been following the faces of the main singer and he was just acting a crap imitation of a 60s live concert, it was almost embarassing to see him. Even the girls next to me were thinking "what the fuck he's trying to play or do?".

Ok, maybe the fact is the last concert I saw before this one it was Queens Of The Stone Age in Manchester. ...?

I'm just not into bands that has songs you CANNOT sing easily or remember! I've heard no melodies or "singable" vocal lines with Bjorn and company. It was the anti-music, sorry!

I can easily remember the riff of No One Knows by QOTSA... And even people who don't like them can at least remember that riff.

A lot, probably the majority, of "new bands" today have no talent. Yeah, I can go now playing my drums and acting as a scruffy guy a bit fashionable, but doesn't mean I'm talented.

And it's the same for singers and guitar player... Many many moves but, really, nothing behind. No musiiiiiiiic!

Ciao,
Emi

It's crap!

Can't explain it more, it's just a feeling.
I remember that song, the band were playing it last night. And even there.. I was thinking "how weak is this tune??" :)

A silly whistling can't save the missing talent of a band. An helmet hairdo can't make the difference in music. A tight shirt can't make a good melody.

Probably the best thing to ask you here is:
Have you ever heard Cardigans songs? Can you FEEL the difference between our Cardies and those Ben, John, Bjorn,Dave and Paddy?!?

It's all in the voice and the good tunes.

I've seen the video Annika linked above and... it makes me so angry!
Once again, it's like watching a competition between bands, making videos that look "poor enough" or "low quality" or "vintage crap".. It's awful!
We live in 2006, computers everywhere. Let's be the people of the years 2000... Why pretend to be born in the 40's and be 20 in the 60's??
Our parents will see these kind of pretentious "unpretentious" videos and think "erhm... is this the future?"

No way, no way, no way, nooooo waaaaay
And again: even without any image of Bjorn and company, just listening, I feel the weakness of the song, the structure almost not existent.

If you like it it's ok. But what a shame! Start playing music and feel how easy is to make better songs (if you are truly inspired by something)

Emi

Sorry again!

I love them. Beautiful melodies, nice lyrics and a good vibe.
I really can't understand your problem, emi.

@emi:
I really like this band!
They are one of my favourite! You cannot compare a band like this with the Cardigans IN the forum of The Cardigans. That's crap.
And about QOTSA, they are boring, ass-hole-minded musicians and the music (stoner rock) is from the 90ies...so... now I know I don't have to pay attention to your taste, if you attend their concert...yaaaawn.

The guys of that Bjorn band are very clever-cunning, before, erhm, talented...

I´d love to hear somebody who feels like me about the weakness "nme surely pushed" quality of lots of ""modern young and happy" bands.

anyway, remember, I´m just sharing ideas here!

:)
