There are only 43 days before New Year and Christmas! There`re wonderful holidays but…we often don`t know how to make them actually cool. Sometimes we feel that we`re tired from usual type of celebration. In Russia many people (especially housewives) do different kinds of salads, fried chicken, pies and buy some bottles of wine, vodka, candies and so on….Then such usual family invites some guests and they start celebrating:
1. Firstly they`re eating.
2. Secondly they`re drinking (mostly-vodka!).
3. Then they`re singing, watching TV and dancing.
4. After that they`re walking on the street, explode rockets and wireworks…
5. Then being drunk, they`re going home and sleep (like pigs).
And this sort of celebration is very typical in Russia. But it`s so boring! As for our family, anybody of us doesn`t drink but I can`t say that it`s better than in other families ;) I`d like to meet this New Year more funnily than earlier! And, of course, I`d like to present another, unusual souvenirs to my friends, parents and relatives. But I can`t imagine what to present! Has somebody anything to offer? My fantasy isn`t good now ;)

Yes, of course!!! It was funny but now I`m asking about new kinds of celebrating. It means I`d like to know another types of organization the party!

a party organization? I didn´t know this was about politics =) hahaa but to get serious. I spend new years eve usually in the city with friends. some years we have had big parties and some years there´s just few of us. I don´t know, to me a good party cannot be planned, because it´s the people that make a party a good one. but a place, something to eat, lots to drink, lots of music, friends and someone to cuddle with at midnight sounds like a hell of a good new years eve party to me.

christmas I spend with my family, being stressed all the time, cooking for everybody and just as we´re about to exchange our presents realising that I´ve forgotten to buy one for somebody...

To me,very similar to what Bugsy said.New years eve partying.. (I must admit I love more all that New Years preparations,some weeks before the actual "event",all that excitement of a rush going through people,and city with bells and lights..snow..).But,also,I remember,very unusual,two years ago,I was at home,in my room,alone,sleeping..so it depends..
The actual night,doesn't mean much to me.Morning after (as every of its kind ;) ),feels weird (I don't know why!!??)
Christmas is different thing,it's a family gathering..cozy and pleasant..

I`m thinking now about presents...What can be a good, fashionable, beautiful gift? It seems to me, I have already given all things! To mother:
cosmetics, flowers, photo albums, perfume and so on...
To father:
lip`s harmonica;
new notes for his guitar;
camertone;
perfume for men, even socks etc.
to friends:
many, many similar things (little toys, gel-candels...)
My imagination is poor now. Don`t know - maybe should I buy a certificate for a on of stars (our Moscow ovservatory sells such dosuments and you can give a name to your personal star). But it is not useful...don`t know...

Seems the older I get, I get less and less into the holidays. Christmas is for the kids and because of a bad New Years experience in 2000 I rarely celebrate New Years.

Christmas is for the kids
Why do you say that ?
I love when we burn the tree at the end of the night. Of course, I usually go to a countryhouse for Christmas.

Valeria wondered what would be a good gift. Try to make something yourself maybe...
For my brother's"wife" I'm giving her a framed picture of her and her four daughters that I created on that South Park make -your-own-character website (someone on the forum posted the link:)

so that's funny and personal and cheap!!! :)
Once I painted a rock that was flat and could stand on one edge.
I painted a scene of a friend at the beach looking up at the moon and stars. It turned out great! I used a spray can to clear-coat it when I was done. Again very cheaply done but a special souvenir!
