Note from a book from Jacques Azanam (strange name, with a 'z' it is not from France ; immigration already ?), a book from 1778.
"Nota. Nous avons oublié de dire que ce théorême, qui est fort ingénieux, & duquel dérive la fameuse proposition du triangle rectangle, est due à M. Clairault le jeune, qui la donna dans un petit ouvrage qu'il publia, à l'âge de seize ans, en 1731. Il eût sûrement marché sur les traces de son frere, si une mort prématurée ne l'eût enlevé. "
That tells that the person who wrote the book in 1731 (when he was 16 years old) died some years later. And that this person has a brother who did an interesting work.
Officially, there is only one famous Clairaut, who died in 1765. Two brothers in 1776, one person in 2006.

My point of view is that these two brothers were not very gifted. They had one sister, who was gifted in mathematics.
