A very good day to you The Cardigans, I'm about wanna make an offer for you guys to come over to Indonesia as you have massive number of fans here, and I'd like to know how to do it. Do I need to make a deal throughout the booking agent or is it OK to go directly through your management? for sure I'm looking forward to your reply, cheerio!

Hi Cardigans,
My friend on youtube said that I should listen to you guys because he says that you are kind of similar to my favorite band Garbage, and I did, and I really love My favorite Game. But, I think it's sorta impossible for me to like 2 bands at once, because of the way my mind works, so I don't want to drop 1 for the other. Do you have any Ideas on how I can like both at once?

Regards,
Brenna

Hey Magnus!
My name is Gustavo, and I’m from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. I’m writing to congratulate you all for the amazing job you guys do! You are definitely the best band ever! Both Long Gone Before Daylight and Super Extra Gravity are, in my humble opinion, masterpieces! Can’t wait for you to release a new CD, which I hope is coming soon (please?! :)). I saw a video on youtube that was recorded by you in Florianopolis, that is simply hilarious! And now, to stop bothering you with my fan talk..hehe, I will make you just one request…If you guys tour again soon, would you please consider coming to Rio de Janeiro this time?! It would be awesome watching you guys live!
Once again, congrats on your great work
Hugs to all in the band

Hello,
I have been trying desperately to figure out how to play the keys for "And then you kissed me" and it is just simply doing my head in! If you could please let me know what the basic chord progression for the keys part is, I would be incredibly grateful.

Thanks so much!

I am pretty sure that Peter has de-tuned the guitar... The basspart was dead easy, even though I can´t remember the exact notes right now.

Hey! I'm Sofía from Argentina. This is the first time I write to you! I know you guys aren't touring at the moment, but I was wondering if you could consider coming to Argentina next time you are in South America, or at least tell me what I should do to make you come here.

I don't really know what is that that you take into account to play in a country, but I 'd appreciate some tips for me to know :p Maybe I should get more fans or somthing! you tell me,please.

Do you know about The Cranberries playing in Argentina in February,5th? I hope someday you could come, too. There aren't great bands like you or The Cranberries nowadays. Not that I know at least. If you do, please, recommend some!

Thanks for your albums. You are GREAT! ( please, answer me )

Hi,

I am Derek from Malaysia ... yes it is a very faraway place from Sweden. LoL

My question is whether your band have some sort of friendly connection with other Swedish bands back in the 90s ? bands like Cloudberry jam or Komeda ?

Cause i am quite curious about why Swedish bands could make music with such unique melody, do swedish bands kinda inspire each other when it comes to making music ?

Haha ... i'm sorry cuz this is a long and weird question i suppose. Continue ur good work, i'm in love with ur older and latest works btw.

Regards,
Derek
blastermc, 2009-11-28 15:05:23
Hi!

We knew Cloudberry Jam way way back in the days, even before we moved down to Malmö. So that must have been in 93-94... uuuhhh so long ago. Komeda comes from the north of Sweden and I don´t think we´ve met them. But they were good!

Hi!

I am a musician living in London. My love for the Cardigan's music has lead me to explore Sweden's other cultural offerings. I have discovered two things. 1. Swedish people are really hot. 2. They often make really good music. These two discoveries have inspired me to make a musical pilgramage to Sweden to kick out some jams. So I have a computer program to brush up on the lingo, (Mannen springer... Hunden ater... that should do it,) And I would like to ask from Sweden's finest, where are the best places to go for live music and cool people?

P.S. A new album wouldnt go amiss! Get on the phone to Persson and tell her to stop messing about in New York and get back into the studio!

Peace, - Jack.
dijerydack, 2009-12-04 15:27:34
Well it depends where you´re heading? Some of us live in Malmö and Peter in Sthlm.
But a good spot in both cities is Debaser. There are two clubs in Sthlm, one big and one small. Malmö only has only, but it´s good.

Hej Magnus,

I wrote to you guys before asking if you answer messages through MySpace...thanks for your reply. The reason I wrote to you guys this way was because I have a slightly unusual request which I wasn't sure would be ok to ask through a public message.

Basically I am getting married on June 12th 2010 and we would like to give out mixed CDs of our favourite music tracks.

The Cardigans are one of our favourite bands and we would very much like to include a couple of your songs on our CD. The ones we love are ‘Erase/Rewind’ and ‘And Then You Kissed Me’.

We realise that most people would just go ahead and use the music but we feel very strongly that music is the property of the person or group who wrote it and should not be passed around in this way. We are therefore asking you for permission to use your music for distribution without cost to 80 guests at our wedding.

We hope that you will reward our honesty with you permission.

Kind regards
Duncan Gilroy

Hi there!

My name is Gabriel, I'm a sound engineer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I was really blown away by "Super Extra Gravity" sound!
I know you're the band, not the sound engineers, but I was wondering how Nina's vocal on "Losing a friend" was recorded, and how you achieved that incredibly good distortion on her voice.
I'll really understand if you can't answer this, some bands are a lot into recordings, and some just want to play!

Love your songs!

Best regards,

Gabriel
gbesouchet, 2009-08-21 02:47:21
Hej Gabriel!

I wish I could answer you, but I just don´t know....
You´re right, really cool sounds on SEG for sure. I know we had the drums recorded in the big recording room. Then played out through Peters GIANT Marshall stack on almost full effect. Then we used that sound for the drums. So the ambience of the room was doubled so to speak, plus some distortion due to the guitaramp. I also used that on the bass sometimes. One line and one through the Marshall. The others had to leave the building when I recorded... VERY loud! ;-)

There´s a bonus dvd for the special edition of SEG where we take you around the studio. I made some of that photage. Ninas mik clinic is hilarious! ;-)

Take care

You visited Brazil a few years ago. There was anything surprising or bizarre in our coutry for you? Any funny event that you would like to share with us? :-)
Do you appreciate any kind of brazilian music, like bossa nova or choro?

Um abraço bem grande! :-D

JuFrancine, 2009-09-09 21:02:13
Hej!

We all loved being in Brasil for the first time ever! Guess the most bizarre thing was that I jumped through the stage in Florianopolis.... Have you watched the video I made about the trip? It should be on MEDIA on this site.

I really like Os Mutantes, the legendary singer even came to see us play in Belo Horizonte. SOmeome said it was the first time they´ve seen him on a show in a decae or two. Guess we should feel very honoured! ;-) I got some autographed cds from him and we talked a while, very nice!

Other than that, old Jorge Ben songs of course. Xica da Silva, O telefono tocou novamente, Ponte de lanca africano. Many beautiful songs there, love the Gal Costa track called Tuareg, very funky! If you haven´t heard these songs, go get them!

un abrazo para ti!

Hey Magnus!

Not been on here for a while. Any news about the band getting back together in the studio soon for a new Cardigans album. If there is, who would you say could be major influences on the sound, from recent stuff you've been listening to?

New fan. Came across an older card song and thought her voice sounded like Lilly Allen. Went back to buy cd, liked it, weeks later i have all and its all ive listened to! Ive become very addicted. Terrific stuff:)

Few comments and questions:
Were you concerned the success of lovefool brand your band's sound as too pop-light? Was there a predetermined effort to move away from that sound with the darker more aggresive gran turismo?

Is there a song you particularly like your bandmates got less excited about?

What new music do you like now? Recommendations?

Your fav cd by the cardigans?

Again, great job over the years. terrific vocals, diverse sound, sometimes soothing, dark, bright, aggresive, thoughtful and always complex.
bstnfan, 2009-09-26 15:24:15
Hi and welcome!

Well, Lovefool was good for us in many ways, but it kinda stood out on that album, being very poppy. Your new cuckoo was the closest to it I guess. So we were kinda tired being labelled as the band with the "Love me " song.. And GT was a huge step away from that, but a bigger change was probably going from analogue to digital recording and editing. Up until First band on the moon, it´s all 16 track desk. GT and on, PorTools rigs. There are songs we don´t care about anymore, Lovefool being one of them I guess. We do play it, very seldom though. We´ve abandoned all songs older than 97, they represent us anymore. To some fans great distress I must say.

We all hold LGBD as our finest moment. That is a mighty fine album!

I bought a fun afrobeat record by the name of Pax Nicholas yesterday. It´s released on a small US label, guess they dug up an old lp somewhere and made it onto cd.
Almost psychadelic in it´s hypnotic groove. Recommend it!

other than, I´ve listened to fellow Swedish female artists like Fever Ray, Jenny Wilson and El perro del Mar a lot this year. It´s been the ladies year in Sweden.

Take care
