I became a huge fan after hearing 'My Favourite Game' and 'Erase and Rewind'.

I just found your page on MySpace and added the Acoustic version of 'My Favourite Game' to my page, I love it! Is it on any albums or singles? I haven't been able to track it down, and would love to have the full version on CD.

Thanks!
03DSG, 2005-11-30 19:57:43
I don´t know actually, we might have played that on that LA radio session last year, or did we not? I am sure someone here on the site has it for you!

It´s not on any singles or albums as far as I know... (or am I wrong again?)

Hey,

I listen to this radio station and I hear The Cardigans "In the Round" you can download it here http://www.slipstream.brokenuniverse.com/ its pretty cool the DJ Says you dont wanna mess with a name like Super Extra Gravity or you'll get stomped. The 2am show featuring cool music Tindersticks followed by The Cardigans and Saint Etienne a wining combination.

My question is about the next single "Dont Blame your Daughter (Diamonds)" Will it feature any new tracks we may not have heard yet?
I think "In The Round" sounded nice on the radio. you can hear for yourself. How about this for The 3rd Single. Just a taught :D

Thanks and best wishes.
Vrak, 2005-12-01 00:26:23
Hey!

Yeah as far as I know, the first version of Good morning Joan will be B side, known as " Less like me" you know. That´s the studio version from Copenhagen whom noone has heard. And some live tracks from Kiev of course!

hi! : )

I went to Romania a while ago to help kids at an orphanage and every day I would walk to a McDonald's with a few other workers for lunch. I was very homesick and I remember walkin into the McDonald's and hearing your song "Lovefool" and I just melted. I LOVE that song and it totally made my daily visits to MickeyD's worthwhile because they played that song every day! yeah, everyone made fun of me because I would sing it loud for all to hear but it was awesome! the people workin there were probably thinkin, "stupid loud americans" but I don't care!
Is there a music video for that song?

~Mimi
bangarang, 2005-11-21 21:14:07
Yes there are two videos, one European that´s... not my fave video really
and one american which is super glossy and kinda charming.

Good luck in Romania, you´re doing a good deed!

hello there, just wanted to say its always fun to listen to you guys, and i wanted to know what was with the sensation of using jazz chords in some of your music........as for me i like useing them for alternative chords progressions and they sound pretty soothing , energetic, yet somber.

I also wondered what you guys are all listening to lately, i heard some pixies stuff but hat else............i have been listening to slowdive and ride, they are pretty cool.

danny, from ohio
dannyd, 2005-11-22 23:10:18
Ride was mine and Peter´s fave band back in the days! They meant the world to us right before we started our band. And I was into Slowdive aswell, being a semi-goth person at the time.

Making a link to a recent question about Gran Turismo, which is for me far far different from any other record of you (which proves how talented the band is and why you all should never think of quitting, because Cardigans can re-ivent itself very succesfully), there is something that has always intrigued me: is it an eletronic drum or is Bengt that is playing in all the tracks? If that's him, I think Cardigans might have reached a very singular way of caption and recording the drums hits sound. Sounds kind of artificial (meaning this a good thing).

Regards
Bernardo Contopoulos
Bernardo, 2005-11-25 18:35:45
I think Bengt is playing all the drums but it´s very heavy edited, we never actually played the songs in the studio. So bengt got told to play the verse beat for some minutes and the chorus beat. After that we went out in the garden to play volleyball and Tore sat down to edit and copy-paste it all....

strange recording that one but we all got pretty good at volleyball.. ;-)

Hi! Congratulations for this amazing album!!
I was expecting to hear it since March...
In Spain, I am seeing more advertising with this new album, that with the last one. So I guess you'll come to make some concerts, right?..
Anyway, I would like to know what's the thing you miss and you like the most while you are touring?

Thanks. Nuria.
Nurieska, 2005-11-25 12:31:47
I guess we all miss these smalll things, like sleeping in your own bed, making your own dinner, watching tv and dvd´s in your sofa and so on. And to be able to steer your freetime on your own. Still touring is very pleasant and mostly easy and fun.
Maybe the fathers in the band think differently now...

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:24:38
Hej from Budapest :)

Look what you done... I was happy not to have favourite bands that would yet be functioning and then you come out with this album. GRRRR :) (not to mention ms lennox and mr stewart coming out with their stuff at the SAME time)

i think i last felt like this about 10 years ago. the album keeps going on repeat in my pod. and the vid. and and and... uh. is that nice to make a gantleman of my age a teenage-like fant, is it? :-)

>>Please don't ask us when the tour will start, IT STARTS NEXT YEAR

/me starts harrassing concert organisers in hungary.

i saw you guys only once on the grand tourismo tour in ljubljana, but it was (obviously) magnus-less, so i really really need to see you again.

and now the question:
will you have another album signing ever so i can set my friends on you to get my album signed?

congratulations, again. (/me tells self: sit!)

Kristof
KristofHUN, 2005-11-27 10:49:46
We will get your albums signed no problems, we just need to get close by Budapest first. Vienna will work too right`Not too far away and there trains I´ve heard.

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:22:16
Hello Cardigans!

Bet you've been already asked this millions of times, but what compelled you to change your style from Life to Gran Turismo?

On another note, keep up the good work guys (and gal :D) and why not have a gig in Singapore one day? Cheers! (Love your voice Nina!)
WoLfSpiRiT, 2005-11-27 16:55:41
I don´t know, we are just restless and so on. Then we always have several meetings before we record to find out which direction we wanna move in next time.
Then of course all songs differ from eachother within the albums too, guess we are like designers, style each song with the right garment?
And as you know, music taste differs from year to year and within our band too, 5 people with slightly different tastes.

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:20:29
Hi guys!
Well I've been listening to you guys since I first heard Long Gone Before Daylight, and have bought every one of your albums and must say that I love all of them! Your music has inspired me to write my own, and my friends tell me that I'm to influenced by you guys ;P.

Just a quick question, but do you plan on coming to Holland for your next tour? As I seem to have missed a lot concerts this year, and plan to make up for it next.

Thanks!
Ian.
MI6Labs, 2005-11-27 20:41:42
Well just steal whatever you want from us! ;-) Good to hear that you get inspiration from our records!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:18:07
This is not much of a question but an opinion from so far away as Argentina...
Man! You are not like the other bands around!!!
I just want to say that I was absolutely surprised when I hear Super Extra... It´s fascinating and distinctive. Songs as Losing a friend moved me since the beginning and I was surprised by the changes in the pace and the rhythm. And the whole album surprised me that way.
You are one of my favourite bands and will be forever...
You truly made your own rules and that feels it when I hear you...

I bought your albums since the beginning but I was never a fan, just a listener... I remember when I cried the first time a heard NO SLEEP in the tranquility of my bedroom... since that day I AM A FAN.

Please come to Argentina... someday that would happen?
MariamTetard, 2005-11-28 00:07:22
Muchos gracias!

Yeah well we are foolish enough to change the sound for each album, it would be boring otherwise. Our manager is planning on a world tour now, let´s hope we get some offers from B.A along with Santiago and Brazil right?

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:16:59
Hello Cardigans!
Thank you for your new album. It is great. But your older album LGBD is better, because is more acoustic and I would like to hear your song in acoustic version. but it doesn't matter. I'm still your big fan and I always will.

martin2811, 2005-11-30 12:41:36
That´s ok , I really like LGBD aswell!

MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:15:00
Hi there,
I know that receiving posts with requests for taking into account some country during your tour are boring. So I'll be boring too. I'm crying day and night waiting for some concerts in Poland but as far, you were playing on some Gala Awards 29 Nov. It was a huge surprise to see you, but it's not enough for your faithfull fans in Poland. What's more, Poland is near your country so...maybe just one little concert??
I'd also like to say that your new album is really good. I was anxious about it, but after listening to it i knew that It'll be succesfull. There are all things I like about The Cardigans on this album.
I hope to see you soon in Poland:)
Best wishes,
Czikaa
czikaa, 2005-11-30 16:13:11
I delete all posts about the tour, sort of 50% of all questions, it´s really really boring cause we have no moderator to do it. So we will NEVER do a show in Poland... ;-)

net.
netalyre, 2005-11-30 16:51:57
Hey!

Yeah maybe that was a little stupid for me to say, I haven´t been there so..
But the 2.nd argument is still valid, it´s expensive so we´d have to have a
good offer to come there. The same thing with other countries basically.

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 17:12:26
Hello!
I was wondering if there is any chance you'll come to Israel? No one ever wants to come here, and it's so sad, really.
Other than that - the new album is just great(!). The next single should be "You're Losing A Friend"! It's the best song. :)

Thanks,
Nitzan
letitfall, 2005-11-28 11:58:46
Hey!

Yeah I can imagine it´s sad not to be able to watch foreign bands in israel, but
1. there are too many suicide bombings, at least that´s what we get to hear in Sweden. We had to cancel the Russia shows due to that reason 2 years ago.

2. there is no way to drive there so you´d have to fly in all equipment and that´s rather expensive. Especially if we were about to make a club gig, not a festival.

Hi Magnus,

I'm a loyal fan from Singapore, ever since Emerdale. I bought that one in 1995, when I was only 12 year old kid! I rememer listening to Red Letter Day & This Space with chills down my spine. Loved it & have enjoyed The Cardigans' music all throughout teenhood, and now too.

I was really excited to see the YOU NEED TO BE NICER video, & cannot wait for DIAMONDS video. I want to ask, what will be the direction for the video be like?

I know its like asking an egg when it will hatch, but pleeaasse spill, if you know anything. So excited!

Also, why is that only you are answering, Mr Magnus?
Hilmir, 2005-11-28 12:19:52
Hey!

I´m the only one who has time it seems... I am still waiting for the others to start doing some work here on our website... and I have been waiting for many years now.

Anyway, we´re right now about to decide which director to go for so no info on the storyline at the moment. You guys will have to wait

Hello!

Thank you very much for SuperExtraGravity. Its one of my albums of the year, really. You get better every time.

I'm a fan since Life/Carnival and since I'm able to do it (not too young / Money / moving from countryhell Austria to Vienna) I've visited all your gigs and hope that you come to vienna when you make your tour next year. I'll be there :-)

Cheers Rainer

Hiya guys

Love the new album. bit upset that havn't heard much of the cardigans singles on the radio much this year but i have plenty of chance to listen in my car :-).

I hope you are touring england next year like Birmingham would love to see you play.

I have one question which band members have had inspiration from other groups in there style of songwriting or singing ?

I am a depeche mode fan does anyof the band like them ?

Many thanks

Mark
Birmingham

P.S. Say hello to nina for me shes on groovy babe X
bonou2vox, 2005-11-28 15:50:19
I think we borrow a little here and there, not about the songwriting but the way it´s produced. GT was heavily inspired by DM as you could imagine... ;-)

This time we used as diverse inspirations as Sonic youth, Dusty Springfield, Roy Orbison and Smashing pumpkins. That´s diverse! ;-)

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 10:18:10
hej nina her er mit spørgsmål. Jeg er i gang med at skrive en stil om jer og vil spørge hvor mange koncerter I har spillet alt i alt?

mange hilsner

Hej!!!
Yes I can see it, tour starts next year but... will you come to Spain? another question .. Will "Super extra gravity" be released in vinyl like "long gone..."?
I was in Stockholm in october and I bought your CD there the day it was released. You have awesome music there (I discovered in Stockholm Broder Daniel (wow!)).
Thanx for your music.
hellrose, 2005-11-29 15:11:37
No idea if the album will be released on vinyl

magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 10:15:26
Salutations.

I don't know about other Cardigans fans, but I often rely on music reviews to determine whether an album or artist is worth checking out (otherwise I would spend all my time listening to mediocre music...). I often check out www.allmusic.com for their comprehensive listings. They have so harsh reviews of your music, especially Long Gone Before Daylight. This obviously didn't sway my decision, but it spurs a question:

What was the worst review you have ever received? What's the best review? What was the most unfair review? How did they affect the band members, and how did you cope with it?

Any nasty words you'd like to share would be much appreciated. haha.

Thanks.

Chris G.
swampsong, 2005-11-29 20:28:38
Hey!

Perhaps not the worst review but UNCUT magazine slaughtered our new album by saying it wasn´t as magic as LGBD. Strangely, they also slaughtered that one since it wasn´t like the classic GT album.... Wonder if it´s the same guy who wrote the reviews? What to do?

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 10:14:51
Hey Cardigans! Three questions belonging the tour, but don´t worry:

1. Will you play "Give Me Your Eyes" on the concerts like you did with If There´s A Chance?
2. Will you play the two And Then You Kissed Me songs one after another? Would be cool, ten minutes long!
3. Will you play Das Model here in Germany? That would be great, I think we all would scream and go crazy and stuff.

Philipp
Biko, 2005-11-27 21:16:50
Hey!

I have no idea what songs we´ll play on the tour, guess we´ll have to vote on that as with with everything else. I hope we can include some old songs and maybe have two sets to alternate with. The kissed me thing might be tricky since I play vibraphone on the recording and that´s a bitch instrument to bring on tour...

We´ll see

I'm Mitch from Napalm Death. How can I get you and Nina to sing on one of my electronic songs. It is completely inspired by you. I want to send you a link. My email address if mitch@futuresquemedia.com please let me know how to send you a link.

Hello Cardigans!

I’m Daniel.
I’m from Venezuela, here in South America.

I’ve always considered your music as the soundtrack of my lifetime. Please, keep on making such a magnificent work!

First of all, congratulations on Super Extra Gravity! Beautiful!
I’ve got to say it is an excellent record. You can genuinely feel the energy…Just sublime! It contains fantastic music. I can truly say that it does touch you somewhere in your heart.
Personally, I’m amazed by the high quality of the lyrics. They’re so deep and inspirational.

I bought both UK editions: The regular 1-disc edition and the limited one with the DVD. I’d like to buy the US edition when released, and I’m hoping you guys can incorporate other extra tracks (sort of the same thing you did last year with the flawless edition of Long Gone Before Daylight plus Up Before Dawn). Let me tell you this, it’d be perfect if you could include “Slowdown Town” as a #15 track. I mean, if there is a chance [“…just one in this world…” ;-) ] Do you think you can add that one in?

By the way, I think I read on the message board that you were looking for a record label to release SEG in the US. What happened with KOCH Records?

I’d also like to know what inspired you to write extraordinary songs such as “In The Round”; “Good Morning Joan” and “Losing A Friend”.

Finally, I’m dying to watch you playing all of the songs from Gran Turismo, Long Gone Before Daylight and Super Extra Gravity LIVE!!! Why don’t you release a DVD? Any plans of filming one?

The best for you,
Thanks!
Bye
Alejcourse, 2005-11-29 20:01:13
Hey!
How´s life in Caracas?
We have no plans for a live dvd at the moment, that´s up to Universal records I guess, they are ones to put up the money for it.. ;-)
No news about a US release yet but I am sure there will be some bonus features on it, they usually demand that. We might record some new songs or add all bonustracks and maybe some videos to it? Who knows?

Take care

magnus
MagnusS, 2005-11-30 09:48:36
Any chance that you will play the Royal Albert Hall when you come to London again???

It has the best sound accoustics around and would suit the bands musical style.

Purchased the new album whilst on holiday in Stockholm with the Wife, loved it so much that I have now purchased all the other albums.

Look forward to seeing you live.

Scottie.
silverarrows, 2005-11-29 20:22:01
I have no idea, not sure we could fill RAH anymore... We just hope to play UK somehow.. ;-)

MagnusS, 2005-11-30 09:45:52
Hello Cardigans! I first want to say that I have loved the band since the release of Gran Turismo. What a departure from the sweetness of Life or First Band on the Moon. I have grown a lot from the time of Gran Turismo and now have a five year old daughter who "wants to be a singer" when she grows up, thanks to Nina.
I live in California and I couldn't wait for the US release of Super Extra Gravity, so I got an import. I was amazed by the different feeling of this album from the last. I have never been a fan of a band that is able to change moods with their music so easliy and successfully. To me, each album reflects the ebb and flow of life, and I LOVE them all!!!
I can't wait to see you in San Francisco whenever you may come. I hope you will play all ages so that my five year old, Soli, can come and get a glimpse of Nina. It would change her life forever.
Happy Holidays to you all.
Love,
Christi (and Soli).
chrichele, 2005-11-26 18:07:41
Hey!

Such nice words, thank you! We will for sure come to glorious San Fran next year so tell your daughter to get ready. Although female bassplayers is the coolest thing around if you ask me!
