Greetings from the US (michigan). Let me start off by saying I really adore your band as a whole. I like how each new album has a different feel for music.

Looking from a designers stand point, I really like the choices you make for Album cover art. Who picks, creates and also decides what should be used for all your cover art?

Looking from a musicians stand point, do you have any songs that are your 'black sheep'? Meaning, you look back in the past and wished you would've written it differently?

One more thing. I love Gran Turismo. It has very dark elements that really set it apart from your other recordings. I'm a fan of synthetic/electronic drum work and Bengt did such great work with it for that album. Does Bengt have any plans on experimenting with any more synth drums? (or maybe he does, I just haven't noticed).

the_misfit, 2005-10-25 16:33:56
Hey michigan!

Well, the artwork is made by our old friend Martin Renck. it´s his and our visions together, but since he´s the AD, he´s the man behind the concept.

We do have black sheep songs for sure, some stuff of the LIFE album isn´t that good for sure. Then again, it´s our choice if we ever wanna play these songs again.
it´s hard to change the old albums now, a bit late for that I guess...

Don´t know about bengt´s synth drum dreams! ;-)
GT was strange in that way since we never played the songs before we recorded them. Bengt just kept playing patterns which were put together for a drumtrack.
Guess he enjoy playing the full songs over and over instead, he´s got the greatest patience in the studio.

Is the dog on the Emmerdale cover still alive? Who's is/was it, because it looks just like a stray dog that I took in a week or so ago!

My dog, Charlie won't stop farting at the moment. He's stinking the house out!
internazionale, 2005-10-25 23:20:45
Hey

No Tintin is dead. He was Nina´s familydog and he was...not the sharpest knife in the drawer. He ate himself full of cow poo on that photosession... judge for yourself.
And I love dogs, even had a cockerspaniel when I was a kid.

thinking about SEG it remainds me at the minimalism style. Becuase its simplicity, the image, the pictures, the chords of the guitars and the beats of the drum.. maybe in Nina's voice. Don't you think? did you inspire in that art style?? and the name of the album is simple too: super extra gravity. 3 words to name an album. and.... less is more... like in the minimalism. what do U think about it?
FeDe.ar, 2005-10-26 00:15:13
Yeah, we wanted to scale down the sound, at least make it harder and edgier than the wooly and fluffy LGBD. A lot has to do with the drum and bass sound.
Peter and Lasse also used quite " bad" undistored guitarsounds, but brought up high in the mix to make it sound awkward. That created the minimalist sound I guess.

MagnusS, 2005-10-26 09:26:51
I noticed there is a running theme throughout the album that has to do with dancing. Is there an explanation to this?
addie., 2005-10-25 23:51:49
Yeah!

And Nina´s big phobia is...dancing! Guess it has some therapeutic meaning to her ;-)

Hey I have been listening to you guy in the states for about 8 years. I would not have done so if I didn’t think you guys were great. It seems like you guys really seem foreign. Any idea why that is? Is music in Sweden that different from the states? I would really hope to see you guy live one day.

Just wondering Thanks,

Adam

PS: This is kinda neat and keep on being unique!
stajp, 2005-10-26 01:55:28
Hey!

Well we are foreign! :-) I don´t know why Sweden has a great music scene but we do have got plenty of nice bands, chekc our links section for more tips!
I guess we filter the US and UK (among much else) and then create our own thing.
And we haven´t suffered as bad to the Pearl Jam syndrome as US bands has.
I really hate the way singers try to sound like Eddie Vedder. And I never liked Pearl jam in the first place...

If you wanna hear a cool vocalist, listen to Karin Dreijer in The Knife! She´s reinvented the German fake accent in some songs! ;-)

HEYLOW GUYS!!!!
I'm a big fan of u guys!!!
u've been so inspirating for me and my band.
We've been playing your songs since we heard 'your new cuckoo' in the first band on the moon album, it was on 2003, a little bit late isn't it?
Since then we always play your songs.
I wanna ask a question for u..
when, where and how do you guys often get an ispiration for a song? Coz i wanna make songs like u do.
And guys, Please come to Indonesia... I'll be waiting for you guys!
Ogep, 2005-10-26 04:21:48
Hey!

I think Peter´s trick is to watch tv with his acoustic guitar in his lap and then just stum the guitar without thinking. He´s also quite good at different tunings on the guitar, that way a normal chord sequence will sound intriguing.
And don´t rush it, be patient!

MAgnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-26 09:20:11
first, great new album and great new video.

my question, do you guys really like black sabbath? I love that covers, and I love black sabbath :)

bye and kisses from brazil
converge99, 2005-10-21 18:24:28
yes we all really love the 70´s Black Sabbath! I got Electric funeral as my ringtone on my cellphone for one!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 19:01:26
hi all, i would to know how many songs it needs in the begining, before to choise these 11 songs... 15, 20, 25 project, or everyproject must go to it's end, whatever it could happened...???

another one, who find the groovy bass line "on in the round"??

last one, did you have liked your return on stage in france after many years, does french are ever "cheesy" or not???

tack tack, tack sa° mycket for coming, it was a real pleasure to see you at the black session...
Quetzal, 2005-10-21 19:50:45
Hey!

well I think that Peter had 14 songs, but maybe not all were complete when we started to record in january? I don´t know actually.
Peter came up with the fine bassline for In the round, I think that´s how he created the song. It´s a bitch to play, though it sounds easy.

The french fans were all very nice! And it was well nice to have the honour to do with the Black Sessions, it´s a classic!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:59:11
Too bad.. you're not coming to The Netherlands..
We have to travel all the way to Denmark to see you live.
I know it's worth it, but you are probably not aware of your enormous capabilities of astonishing the Dutch with your music.
Considering a one-time-only appearance, e.g. in Amsterdam (Paradiso) will attract all of your Dutch fans and will definitley improve your new record sale..
Stijn, 2005-10-21 22:55:31
Hey!

The tour isn't until next year so don´t panic! :-)
if our record does well I am sure our concert agents make us play melkweg again, like we´ve always done!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:55:59
Hi all !

I was wondering... Do you care about the sequence/tracklisting of your albums ? Do you spend a lot of time thinking in which order the songs will play ? How to start it, how to end it ?
Artists usually do, but with the mess done by your record label with the 8217 different available versions of SEG, with/without bonus tracks, with/without DVD, French, English, Japanese, Swedish, it's hard to know what YOU had in mind when you planned the album...

thanks a lot and please come to France for your next tour !
Yann
Yann_D, 2005-10-22 11:18:53
Hey Yann!

yeah, Peter is especially keen on track order! And he´s always the one to win the discussion! ;-) I wonder why...

We wanted to open with Losing a friend, to give the listener a hint of Bengt´s drumming and so on. Then And then you kissed me was the ender, so then it´s just to fill the crossword puzzle and fit the songs. It is hard brain work... ;-)

We recorded that stupid thing called " bonustrack" to separate the album from the bonus tracks. Did you like it? ;-)

The extrabonus tracks and so on is as you say a Universal thing, but I think we have managed to keep our integrity somewhat well.

BIG HUGS TO THE CARDIGANS

You're the only band , i can talk to directly thru the website.
I love it.

So , what will the band do in future?
Next projects?
WithFaith, 2005-10-22 19:37:32
well the next thing is to live thru the dark autumn here in Sweden!
No, I guess we´ll do more tv promo and then start the tour february next year or so.
Not bad to communicate with you guys either! :-)

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:45:55
Hey, Cardigans

I'm a long time fan of the band since I was ten years old and "Lovefool" was a hit here in Canada. I was wonder when you would be returning to tour Canada and if so will you guys be performing anywhere outside of Toronto like Ottawa or Montreal?

P.S. Can't wait for the new album!

Rock Steady, Tommy!
t-mack, 2005-10-22 20:14:51
Hey Tommy!

We always miss Canada when we´re not there! it´s one of our very fave countries!
of course we´ll play toronto or montreal next year!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:44:20
Hello!
I was wondering what inspired you to record the (brilliant brilliant) part two for "and then you kissed me". Did you already knew the song would be continued when you recorded "long gone..."?
And: whats that great submarine echo guitar sound in the refrain?
And: Come back to Zurich please! Remember what a polite and concentrated audience we've been...:-)
Cheers Thom
thom., 2005-10-22 20:25:14
Well
Peter came up with these chords and mildly suggested the idea. I was sooo for it and kinda pushed him to complete the song. I think it is so cool to do a sequel, especially since the lyrics are so... cinematic? We had no idea back in 2002 for sure, it just happened in the studio in April or so.
I don´t know what Peter uses but he was keen on Fender combo amps during the recordings. Check the bouns dvd´s for models!
Zurich is a check on the tourplan next year for sure!

Hello Nina & The Band. Just the few question about past & future :)

1. From G.T. era: Was "Junk Of The Heart Naid Remix" an official video? And if so - I would REALLY want to watch it again (I've seen it only one)
2. Do you have some plans for a DVD release (DVD with all your music videos of course)?
3. Is there a chance to see you guys here, in Poland?
4. Any stuff left from SEG sessions? B-Side from INSFWAYYNTBN was already released (I've got it on LGBD US edition)... So maybe on the next singles or Asian edition of SEG?
5. Are there any plans to release new record by A-Camp ??
6. I've seen your discography on iTunes but I'm a little sad for it. As a fan I've got all albus so I don't need it digitally. Is there a chance to digital versions of B-Sides? I'm interested especially with those from "A Camp" "Gran Turismo" and "LGBD".

Thanx in advance for your kind reply to this

P.S. I'm in love with And Then You Kissed Me II - totally great idea!!

Bests,
Lukasz
liu, 2005-10-22 22:11:18
Hey lukasz!

There are actually plans to go to Poland very soon! First time for us! Hurrah!

I don´t know about the Nåid remix video, I have never seen it for sure. ;-)
I think there will be a dvd release when that greatest hits will be released. Someday!
All songs we recorded ended up as bonustracks so there are no songs left at all.
We will try to release these songs as B sides later on.
Hmm, I think we should talk to Itunes about this, I am sure the digital forum is the future for most of our fans. It´s too time consuming to look for all singles and bonustracks.

Hope to see you in Warsawa soon!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:39:57
Hello Cardiband!

As lots of people here I heard (because I bought it!) the new album and I really like it. Somehow also happened that after an entire day listening to it (just after bought) I had a "sweet adventure" with a friend... And I still had the songs in my head, while she was.. erhm... suddenly kissing me :) (sweet moments like that are quite rare for me!!)

Anyway, I have to send a big smile back to Nina because her performance in the dvd, explaining microphones (!) it's worth the whole dvd. You make me smile every word you say, so... thank you for that Ninetta!

Last: About Spinal Tap! After I heard that you played AFTER a PUPPET SHOW in France, watching the dvd has been a bit tap-esque, because you have explained the instruments used in the recording... and the guitar amp from the Who goes to full 10. Well, why not 11? :P
But take this as a pure compliment!!! :D

Ciao ciao!
Emiliano
Emilianino, 2005-10-22 23:37:03
Hello!

Congrats on your loveaffair! Good work bro! :-)

Glad you like the super extra bonus dvd, the " this one goes to eleven" effect was exactly what I was looking for. I think Nina and Bengt got real close. They are real funny.

MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:34:30
Hi there!

Magnus, how interesting it is to see u talking about basses, amps and stuff on the dvd ( S-ex-G special edition)!!! Tell us more about using a guitar amp for the bass! I'm also a bass player and i just luv your style! I hope to see u live in london soon!!! :D

Cheers!

Lovefool, 2005-10-23 03:42:18
Hey!

You know I hate to watch myself on tv, so that thing wasn´t one of my faves to do.
Still, Tore thought that I could beam up the intensity by playing thru guitaramps and DI. That way you get the deep end and the crunch thru old Hagstrom or even Peter´s massive marshall amp. Maybe it´s not that bad to play thru guitaramps in the studio?
Most bass on albums sound kinda safe and lame, then use two channels and mix them for that extra crunch!
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:31:38
Hi guys! I love your music soo much. This new cd is great. I was wondering, are you going to make another dvd? Cause i really liked Live in London, and was hoping you'd do another one for your more recent songs. Thanks!!

staceyu, 2005-10-23 06:49:52
Hey Stacey!

Well, the making of a live dvd is costly and it´s pretty much up to Universal to request such a product. I know that seems kinda harsh but that´s the way it is.
The Live in London thing was aimed at Japan and as we all know, they got plenty of money over there! ;-) It would be fun to do it though, I must say!

Magnus
MagnusS, 2005-10-23 18:28:28
well, after have read the free interview about you young times in jonkoping and the 52 church, the fact that there as nothing to else to do if you were not into the religious activities... i would like to you know if you will gonna play godspell in these particuliar place, and what would be your feeling these day, if you go do a gig as last years in your own town??? if you play it, this is could be as a vengence against all the boring hours siting on cold chair, wainting desesperatly the end of the worstest show it ever been?? and the worstest toast-apertif ever serve to someone... faith is great, just for that...

all my compassion for your young years, i know too this feeling... thank for this particuliar song :D
Quetzal, 2005-10-23 09:31:17
hey!

We will ofcourse play Godspell on every show, it is a little tricky actually but real fun!
I don´t know if the born again christians in Jönköping will come and see us, they are probably busy that night! ;-)

ekologisk, 2005-10-23 10:08:41
Hej Vilma!

Hi there, you swedish five!
First of all - your new album is superb, raw, melodic, full of fresh ideas...
Quite different from the last one but great as well.
Will you make a stop in Austria in 2006 - will you play live in Vienna or even better in Graz?
I would love to see you there - say you will?

All the best to Nina, Magnus, Bengt, Lars-Olof and Peter,
Tom.
