Hi, I've bought the new A Camp CD and it's pretty good, but I instantly noticed on the track Bear On The Beach there when Nina sings the words "Iris in the morning rain" it is an exact note for note rip off of Pale Saints Blue Flower song, the part that goes "Glowering in the morning rain" haha Come on, blatantly obvious! ;)
I noticed a few things like this on the SEG album that kinda bothered me too. My question is, has Nina Persson run out of ideas and is now harvesting old songs for new parts.?!
Vrak, 2009-03-08 18:12:00
Ha, I know that she likes that Pale Saints tune a lot. I guess some stealing is ok, but of course it can turn some people off. What were the thefts on SEG? Would be interesting to see what you´ve discovered!

Hola!

Just a simple question: Do you know if the vinyl version of GRAN TURISMO exist?

I checked your discography and it seems it doesn't. but, it says the same for FIRST BAND ON THE MOON, and right now I'm listening to it in my turntable....

Oh! I was lucky as hell to get a promo copy of "LONG GONE BEFORE DAYLIGHT" on 2xLP and sounds really A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!

As my usual complaint in this ASK THE BAND section, I wish there was vinyl of your latest releases...

Keep up the good work! Grettings from Barcelona!

Are you going to see any of the Bob Dylan shows in Sweden this month? I love his band they've got to be one of the best collection of musicians working anywhere. They really have groove to spare.

hello, my name is Marcela and i'd like you to answer this please... Someone special gave a dvd of your london's tour and i remembered how much i love your music. but it's ok, my question is the next: Why haven't you announced another songs since first band on the moon in México??? We love you here too, so don't be cruel. :-p Thanks!! Be happy and nicer as always.
cela_prettier, 2009-02-27 19:27:31
Hi!

So you mean that no albums have been released in Mexico since 96?
We have nothing to do with which albums get releases in the world, but it sounds strange. Perhaps all our Mexi fans have go the album on US import?

Hello from Italy ! :)

First I want to say that your music is the GREATNESS , from the first album , til the last one .

Then , I'd like to ask if Garbage and Shirley Manson are one of your inspirations . I find a lot of people who , like me , love Cardigans and Garbage both , so who knows , maybe you have inspired each other ?

Thanks and greetings !!! :)

Hello Mr-I-play-the-bass-in-the-Cardigans:

I wonder if you ever found yourself mumbling, whistling or singing a Cardigans' song while you were into something, like walking, running, playing a sport or something like that.
If so, do you remember the one that's always in your head?

Sometimes I find myself singing You're the Storm... LOL

Best regards!
FeDe.ar, 2009-02-23 21:28:16
oh, I doubt it. I always hum basslines when I am walking around town or in a park, but they´re somewhat funkier than the ones I play in ther Cards.... ;-)

You´re the storm is probably a good song for jogging, nice tempo in that one.

Hej!

I'm a little disappointed: what happened to the "create your own Best Of" competition ? It's been a while : )
I'm so curious, will we ever see the results ?

I am dissapointed too! I have no idea what happened to the competition.
If you ask me, somewhat typical of the organisation in this band....

Hi folks,

just a quick note to correct your discography:

Your entry for the "Lovefool" single (CD1) has "Iron Man" (Puck Version) listed as track 4.

My CD (same cat # 573 691-2 Stockholm Records) has track 4 simply listed as "(Puck Version)" and is a beautiful recording of "Lovefool" recorded in one take at Best Western President Hotel, NY, room #1026.

"Hallelujah!"

Do I get a prize for geekiest first question?!

I'm new here but have been listening to and loving your music since 1995 - thanks :)

Hi!

No I don´t think so. None of us are Zep fans, at least not what I know of. But Peter did in fact steal Stariway to heaven on Explode. Something I did tell him, but he didn´t wanna hear. Then Jimmy Page threatened to sue him.... ;-)

Hello Magnus,
and hello to all the cardigans fans all over the world. Well i've been listening to some of Florian Horwath's tracks and i think that we're talking about a very talented and accomplished musician/songwriter here. He seems to be incorporating many musical styles in his songs. I like the way that "Dad you have faith in me......" changes from samba rythm to shuffle in the end...brilliantly implemented, nice lyrics too...and the duet with Nina in "Babe you got me wrong" is just excellent. Their voices blend very nicely....Now about "Up the mountain" This is some of the best country music i've listened to so far. If i didn't know the band members i'd say it came straight from our good old U.S of A. But three Cardigans members play in this great band plus my favourite Lotta Wenglen (the more i listen to her the more i like her). Track "Anabelle" and "Shine" are just great (Who's singing on "Up the mountain medley" and sounds like Dolly Parton :-) Maria or Lotta?-it must be that girl Maria). So i'm very glad to see that you and the rest of the Cardigans members are active with such interesting bands. Yes we 'd all like another album from the Cardies blah blah blah...BUT anyone who has the slightest appreciation for great music can't ignore these excellents bands. So keep up the good work dude. I 'll sure be watching you closely!! Now there's a little nice pop song from a Greek artist called "Manolis Famelos" that might be interesting to anyone who likes to listen...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frzBp0yohks

Also any Cardigans fan who knows something about a great band or artist from any part of the world that the rest of us don't please bring it on...
Take care,
Panos

Thanks man! You know you can order the Up the mountain live cd from our Myspace site? I will personally send it to you, that´s a promise!
We got guest singers on Annabelle ( Daniel Lemma from Gothenburg) and Titiyo from Sthockholm on Shine. Lovely friends and great singers. It´s Maria Sweet Mary who sings on the medley. Check her solostuff on Myspace aswell, she´s good!

Nice to hear that you like Flo and Lotta aswell. PErhaps you would like my friend Cecilia who´s releasing her first solo album today. The name is CILIHILI and you can find her on Myspace aswell. We´ll play live tonight and I am in the band, though not on the cd. Lasse will also play live later on when Lotta gets too pregnant... ;-)

Hej Magnus!

I am here to support "Edoardo" when he asked for a new Cardigans' album. Why?

I was listening to "Colonia" and I think it is a really brilliant album. But then, my Itunes, in the shuffle mode, started to play "Communication". Then, i decided to listen to the entire album (LGBD)...

and my goodness! I can't describe the feelings inside of me when i listen to the Cardigans (the entire discography, not only LGBD)!! It is so amazing!

And when i listen to Communication i remember that you didn't play it in Belo Horizonte (my hometown), in the last concert of the SEG tour. I have to see it live!!

So, i know that you don't know when the next album will happen! but it HAS TO HAPPEN!!

You guys are too brilliant together! That can't end :) :)

Take care,
beijos,
viviane
vivigomide, 2009-02-18 02:46:37

Hi I'm Edoardo, I'm italian and I just want to ask you to came back with a new album as soon as possible...

WHY?

Because I simply love your music is so melodic and armonius it's impossible to getting tired by listening the same song or the same album many and many times.

HOW CAN YOU CREATE SUCH SONGS?

I don't know maybe Nina's wonderful voice, the guitars choruses, or the semplicity of the song itself in terms of composition. (live and learn, don't blame your daughter, for what it's worth, you're the storm, erase and rewind, I need some wine...)
As a result you can transmit wonderful feelings.

Maybe (I don't want to criticize in anyway...) some rock attitude lost after "My favourite game" of "Granturismo" 1998 album.

AT LEAST YOU'VE GOT A SUPPORTER NOW!!!!!!!!!!
(I've followed you from "First band on the moon")

Take care guys
Best wishes

Edoardo
epandolf, 2009-01-30 01:03:32
Hi!

Well, I hope we´ll make another album but I have no idea when.
I think all bands need a great songwriter, a good singer and a band who can deliver what needs to be delivered for the style of music they play. I think we got all these three and that´s why we´ve been successful. We all need eachother, like in any team you know! ;-)

I know we changed a whole lot from GT to LGBD, but if we have made a copy of GT , we would have been dead, artistically and quite possibly commercially. No moss growing on rolling stones you know? ;-)

Take care

Take care

Hej Alex!

You can´t write feat The Cardigans since we don´t play on the recording. But the songwriting credit and all that should be forwarded to Universal Sweden.
I am no expert at how these things work, but it shouldn´t be a problem dude!

Hi Cardigans!!

The other day I think it was youtube that I was watching the making of 'I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer'' video and Peter said something about a gig you had with Beck back in the 90's.
Well since you guys and Beck are my favourite musicians I was wondering, Do you remember that gig?? And was it a good gig or something usual??
cristiinnaa, 2009-02-11 18:26:20
Hi!

We did almost three weeks with Beck and his boys. I rank that as one of the happiest periods in the story of our band. The guys were adorable, we still keep in touch with the bassman Justin Meldal Johnsen and drummer Joey Waronker. So lovely memories evenn though it was now 11 years ago. i got a framed poster from our gig at Grand ole opry Ryman theatre in Nashville. Pretty cool to have shared the stage with Elvis, Johny Cash, Dolly Parton and every countrystar in history! ;-)

There are a lot of Swedish bands that have been quite successful here in America on the pop scene(you guys, Play, Ace of base, eagle eye cherry, and ABBA... among others) why do you think that is more so then rock or any other genre?

Also, do you like any of the music by the other musicians I mentioned?
jhits4life, 2009-02-13 08:07:01
Hej!

Well there are lots of rock stuff from Sweden. Check Hellacopters, Soundtrack of our lives, Backyard babies, Sahara Hotnights in the straight rock dept. For real heavy stuff go for Entombed, Mesuggah, Dismember. For arty pop check The Knife, Jenny Wilson, The Concretes, Frida Hyvönen, Fever ray ( the Knife sideproject) Jose Gonzalez, Robyn.
So many great bands from our proud nation, just dig in and find your new fave band!

Hello Cardigans!

I'm Miles, I listen to you guys a ton, I even taught myself how to play the string instrumental in "Carnival" on the piano...and I don't even know how to preform Chopsticks! Anyways, I loved your video for "Hanging Around", Repulsion was such a good movie and it fit the lyrics beautifully. Are there any other films that have inspired your work in the past?

Well, hmm not like that video. But then again, it was director Sofie Muller´s work, not ours. But I do like it a lot, Nina´s real good in it.

Nina are you coming to dublin eire with this tour ? regards paul

Hej Marcus,

Liked all the groups you play nowadays, but especially Lotta Wenglen. Great voice, great style, and track "Water" is something to look for. Funny i had never heard about her, cause if you like the Cardies you got to like Lotta Wenglen too. By the way, there are great rock bands in many countries in Europe and elsewhere that noone knows about. So here an excerpt of the best modern greek rock band called Κίτρινα ποδήλατα" (yellow bicycles). Noone in northern Europe knows about them but that's normal since they have greek lyrics only. This song is called "Άμα τα πάρω" (if i get angry) and describes the social discontent that has built up in Greece through the last decade because of corrupt politicians and the widening of the gap between the rich and the poor.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7XqC_U9Als
volpe, 2009-02-06 18:41:38
Never listened to Greek rock before, perhaps this is the first time? ;-)
I´ve been recording with Lotta this weekend, so more real nice songs are coming
out soon.
